Reflections in the Aller building

We will be walking around the Aller building, which is fameous for its “knifes edge” look from the point. It is quite an impressive building, and should allow for us to make a LOT of photographs. PLEASE be careful and look out for each other as you will most likely be venturing out to the end of the peer to get THE photo of the edge!

As we come around the Aller building, we will be coming to our first gathering point, just across from Fisketorvet. There is a staircase there, leading up to “Cykelslangen” a raised bicycle path across the harbor. We will NOT be going up there but will cross the bridge to Fisketorvet, and continue around Fisketorvet.

We will go up to Dybbelsbro, and will cross the bridge, again a place with lots to Photograph. To the left will be the Cactus Towers and to the right a views across the train tracks leading into Copenhagen Central Station.

After we get across Dybbelsbro, we will be walking down to Kødbyen (The Meatpacking District). The history of Kødbyen spans nearly 150 years, marking its transformation from a gritty, industrial slaughterhouse district into one of Copenhagen’s most vibrant hubs for culture, gastronomy, and nightlife.

Look for the details as we walk through Kødbyen… there are LOTS to photograph, but shooting “wide” may be VERY busy!Also – please be mindful as you walk through Kødbyen as there will be LOTS of traffic. Take care of you own safety, and don’t just walk blindly into the streets to make a photograph.

We leave Kødbyen and make our way to Copenhagen Central Station. We walk up to Tietgensbroen, and are again offered great views of Copenhagen Central Stations and the multitude of train tracks.

We go down on the train tracks and walk towards Copenhagen Central Station main building. Copenhagen Central Station (known in Danish as Københavns Hovedbanegård or simply København H) is a historic masterpiece and the largest railway hub in Denmark. Opened on December 1, 1911, the current structure is actually the city’s third central station. The first two iterations (built in 1847 and 1864) quickly became too cramped to handle the explosive growth of rail travel.

Enjoy LOTS of opportunity to photograph the station, trains and commuters, but please be respectful of peoples privacy. LOTS of visual gems to photograph here, and remember to look up, and tak your time.

After our walk, we have made arrangements with the manager at Starbucks to reserve a section for us to sit and enjoy a beverage and view our photos of the day on the back of our cameras or on our phones. We can also share ideas or specific techniques used. Usually this is a really valuable time, we get to spend with each other after our walk, so I would encourage all walkers to take advantage of this.
