Photo Walk Description

Hi Roy here. My brother John and I are co-leading this walk.
Note that this one is on Sunday Oct 2

The Plan:
There are several spots with great interest within a small circle of our start point.
At the start we will outline the spots and then meander around to each over the 2.x hour photo walk.
We will end our walk at a pub; [ location To be confirmed, not sure How much room we need quite yet]

What do you need?
Obviously a camera would be a good idea! Doesn’t matter if it’s film or digital; Canon, Nikon or Other or a phone!
We’ll be walking through the downtown area for a couple of hours, so wear your “sensible” shoes

If you’re joining us for lunch and/or post-walk drinks, don’t forget money and photo ID.

Start time:
We will meetup 9:15 for a short huddle and group shot, then we are off walking.
In case you’re running late you should be able to find the group.

Parking:
Easy and affordable. There is a Green P just east of the library with plenty of room.

Sharing your photos:
There is a WhitbyWalk group on Flickr, which is where most people should post their shots from our walks.

What did I forget?
If you have any questions, leave a comment and I’ll try to answer quickly.
Hopefully you’ll enjoy this walk enough to want to come out again with us!

Thanks to all who participated and made the Whitby walk a memorable success.

Thanks to all who published their photos on Flickr and on the WWPW whitby site.

We now have fond memories, fresh photos and warm new friendships formed.
See you on another photo adventure. Roy & John

  • Sunday morn weather You may be wondering What we will do ?

I am going and will be there for our 9:15 am start time.
I will not have connectivity from there so please do not look here for a live-eye last minute update.
We will need to decide what to do on the spot.

The entire walk is outside. If it has rained we are fine to continue. The water may even make for some super images.
    Dress warm.

But if it is Raining that can spoil the fun. There is no defined rain date procedure. We may be able to take the walk next week, but I know that is problematic and can conflict with peoples calendars.

This update, at 6:30, it is wet and cold outside but not raining.

  • October is upon us

I was out at a few ‘Doors Open’ locations this morning and it was cold and breezy, down to 6 degrees C

So dress warm with gloves and in layers, we can peel back if we are too hot.
Hopefully the weather is like it has been every day this week. Dry in the morning – rain later in the day.

We may walk about for a little over two hours, wear you super comfy supportive shoes.

Plug in to charge your batteries overnight. See you at the library Sunday morning.

  • After gathering at a Firkin

Heh, after the photowalk, when we have worked so hard and shot so many lovely photos we deserve a rest and some nourishment. Right? We have earned.

In the south east corner of the area where we are walking, The Crown and Firkin, 112 Colborne st east, Whitby 905-666-9916
We have reserved space for our group at about noon. They open at 11. This is dutch$ = you simply pay for what you order.

  • One week countdown

We are getting close. One week to go. Our registered walker count has increased nicely this week.

    Weather
If it stays like today, or is even close it will be GrEaT !
No Bugs, No Sticky suntan lotion. Best of both.

    See you next Sunday morn

  • Our Group has room for more

I have been advertising this Whitby Photo walk in a number of places. We are getting registrations and our numbers are good.
But we still have room for more enthusiasts.

If you can also spread the word, COPY the Walk info, advertise in other areas that can help.

  • Long Range weather arranged

Just looked at the long range weather – looks great for Sun Oct 2. No need for a special request.
    Who am I kidding?
Just writing to ask that people pass the word to friends, clubs to advertise the walk Date & Place.

  1. Geraldine Alexander says:

Anything other than 37 C with high humidity would be great. (Well……maybe no rain would be good) I’m coming from Florida and can’t wait to get away from the summer heat. Looking forward to the photowalk.

    • Roy Robinson says:

Mornings lately, have been nicely crisp. I expect that you will notice a difference. So far you have the distinction of coming the farthest to take the walk with us in Whitby.

  2. Roy Robinson says:

Does anyone have any burning questions? Or Flaming answers?

  3. Roy Robinson says:

Does anyone have a recommendation or preference about where to gather to eat and chat at the end of the walk?

  4. Ted says:

    Sorry Roy,

an assignment turned up and as a result I would be unable to attend this year’s photo-walk.

    All the best.

    Ted
