Photo Walk Description
This photo walk is designed to offer a wide variety of photo opportunities, both natural and man made. The walk begins from an iconic open space on our South Coast, nick-named Three ‘Scapes by Steve Butler, the dark sky director for the Royal Astronomical Society, and winds around the coast with epic scenes unfolding, to Island Bay, with beaches, buildings and boats, past some aging run down buildings, through a burst of suburbia, to another iconic location, the Empire Cinema. There we can have coffee, food, and share our experiences. I have photographed aurora australis and comets from this coastal location, and used visuals of the landscapes and rock-pools to counter the concepts of it being a ‘dump’, perpetrated by the developers who wanted the best piece of real estate in Wellington! Happy to say it is still dark! and undeveloped. It is still yours, to freely wander all over. There are a few extra possible diversions off our walk that I will investigate and report back about; a Masons building that I may get permission to go inside for us, and the Erskine Chapel at 31 Avon St (possibly too far off our route). After the walk we can review our work together, over coffee..
