Photo Walk Description

Here is the walking map for the walk. https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zUqMFcHDqRns.kDstC1kOJ9aY

I’m sure we will all find little alleys and spots where we may wander off, but this route should provide plenty of photo ops, particularly when you get to the Feed store and railroad depot.

I found a restaurant that a local resident recommended called The Dove’s Nest. I can’t find a menu (with prices) on line but I think it should be reasonable. If not, there is a pub/restaurant just a few blocks over that can work for lunch. Please let me know how many of you are interested in staying for lunch so I can make a reservation.

    What are the rules about taking pictures during the walk?
    Photos submitted to the contest must be taken during the time of your walk. Walkers can’t come back to the location of your walk later (or show up earlier) and take more pictures. Everyone who is on your walk has the same opportunities to capture images during the walk. If walkers take pictures at a different time than everyone else, that creates an uneven playing field. And, yes, they are allowed to use flash if they like.

    What kind of editing is allowed for the photos submitted to the contest?
    We’re pretty Photoshop and Lightroom friendly around here, so there’s not much we’re going to say “no” about. That said, here are a few guidelines for things to avoid…
    • Collages aren’t allowed because you’re technically submitting more than one image.
    • Photos that are submitted can be edited, but can’t include anything that wasn’t taken during your walk. For example, they can’t drop in a sky that was taken on a different day. They can edit images to make them black and white, infrared, add contrast and saturation, remove distracting elements, create HDR images and panoramas, use plug-ins like OnOne, Nik, Topaz, etc.
    How do walkers submit their best photo to the contest?
    Once the day of the walk arrives (but not before), when walkers log into their accounts at WorldwidePhotoWalk.com and go to their walk page, they’ll see a box where they can upload their best photo. The suggested dimensions are 1000px on the longest side at 72dpi, and the maximum file size is 1 MB.

    Once their image has uploaded, they’ll see it on screen and be able to confirm that they’ve uploaded the correct image. If they change their mind and want to submit a different image, they will have until the cutoff date (October 14 at 12:00 noon ET) to upload a new image. After that, no changes can be made.

    Leaders will not see the upload box during the submission period because you aren’t able to submit a photo to the walker competition. You will see a gallery of the images that have been submitted instead. Once the submission period has passed, you will then be able to choose the winning image from your walk.

    Can walkers submit more than one image to the contest? What if they want to share more photos from the walk?
    Only one image can be submitted to the contest on the Worldwide Photo Walk site. But if walkers want to share more images, they can share them on Flickr! They can find the official Sixth Annual Worldwide Photo Walk group right here.

    So to be clear, here’s the simple breakdown of all this:
    Contest = WorldwidePhotoWalk.com
    Fun = Flickr
