Photo Walk Description

My name is Dave Carlson, and I’m your leader! First, a little about my background. For 19 years, I was a photojournalist in Southern California, most recently at The Californian right here in Temecula. For the last four years, I have been teaching photography at Chaparral High School and I also spend many weekends photographing weddings with Brant Bender Photography in and around San Diego.

For our walk (tentatively), we’ll meet in the Stampede parking lot which already offers some fun photo opportunities right there with the architecturally interesting Baily’s Restaurant building, as well as the Stampede building itself. From there we’ll head north to Butterfield Square (look for the wind mill) and then on to the new city hall complex with the beautiful fountain. I will update the actual route as soon as I can, but I can guarantee you’ll have lots to shoot! Hope to see you there.

    After the walk is over, you have several days to log into the walk page, where there will be an “upload your picture here” button. Each participant can enter one picture for the contest. The winner will receive a copy of Scott Kelby’s book ‘Light It. Shoot It. Retouch It.,’ and their winning photo will then be entered in the Grand Prize competition.

    Looks like Rosa’s Cantina is a go for the meet up at the end of the walk. They offer a breakfast buffet and have a regular breakfast menu on Sundays so if walking and picture taking make you hungry, you’re in luck!
