Photo Walk Description

The Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg Worldwide Photo Walk will take place on Saturday, October 1st at 7pm. We will gather prior to 7pm at Ann Street Park on Ann Street just west of 5th Street. The Photo Walk will start promptly at 7pm in Ann Street Park and journey through the streets of historic Stroudsburg. Old buildings, fascinating architectural facades, street scenes and so much more will make excellent photographic subjects. The Photo Walk is a great time to meet new photographers, capture and create breath-taking photographs, and have fun with others who share the passion for photography! You don’t need a fancy camera; just bring your creativity. Join us this year and be part of this photographic adventure. After the Photo Walk we will meet at Sarah Street Grille to relax, grab a drink and a bite to eat, and share our photos with each other. It will be fun and together we will create some lasting memories!

  • Times for This Photo Walk Changed

We just successfully changed the times for this Photo Walk. We will now start gathering at 5:15pm and start promptly at 5:30pm. The walk will continue until 7:30PM. Then we will meet at Sarah Street Grille at 7:30pm. Thanks for all the input and suggestions on this. Now we will be able to photograph subjects during the Golden Hour and in the twilight just after sunset. I am really looking forward to this Photo Walk!

Share this information with your friends, family, and colleagues. I will soon send out a press release and expect registrations to increase after the release is printed.

    Thanks!

    Bob

  • Should We Change the Start Time?

Susan Field asked an excellent question about when the sun will set on October 1st. I checked and the sun will set at 6:44pm. I did want to include a little nighttime shooting, but having some daylight might be helpful.

The Golden Hour is often some of the best conditions for photography, so what do you think about starting the walk earlier; say around 5:45pm instead of 6:45pm? Let me know your thoughts on this by posting a comment here. Thanks!

  • Photo Walk FAQs

Here are some questions that are sometimes asked about a Photo Walk:

    1. What is a Photo Walk and why would I want to attend one?
A Photo Walk is a gathering of photographers who walk together on a designated route and take photographs as they go. There is a lot of camaraderie and mutual sharing by those of us who share the common interest of photography. We walk, talk, take photos, and then gather at the end of the event to grab a bite to eat and talk about our experience. A Photo Walk is a lot of fun! Give it a try this year!

    2. Do I need a fancy and expensive camera to participate in the Photo Walk?
No, not at all. It is not the camera but the photographer who makes the creative photographs. Bring whatever camera you have and join in the fun. This is also an excellent opportunity to learn how to use some of the features of your camera that you haven’t used yet and learn how to be a better photographer.

    3. What does this Photo Walk cost?
This Photo Walk is free, unless you choose to buy something to eat or drink afterward at our gathering place, which is Sarah Street Grille. Please bring cash for this post-walk gathering.

    4. How do I sign up for this Photo Walk?
You sign up online here: http://worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/stroudsburg-pa-united-states/
Sign up soon to reserve your spot. If something comes up in your schedule to prevent you from attending we can unregister you later. Visit this website for more information and to register for this year’s Photo Walk.

    5. Can I bring a friend?
Yes, of course, you can bring a friend. Just make sure they register online, too.

    6. What is the youngest age for participants?
Any age is acceptable. Younger participants need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian, but all are invited to participate. Just make sure that each participant registers online.

    7. Must I enter the contest?
No, this is completely voluntary. However, the winner of the best photograph of our walk will win a free book authored by Scott Kelby himself and be entered into the international contest with the chance of winning even more prizes. To enter one of your photos, you submit it online after the walk. But again, this is completely voluntary.

Consider joining us on this exciting Photo Walk. It will be a memorable and fun experience!

    Thanks!
    Bob

  • The Photo Walk Date is Officially Set!

We just learned this past weekend that the official dates are set for this year’s Worldwide Photo Walk. Scott Kelby and his group decided to move the walk to the fall to avoid the heat of the summer. Our walk is set for October 1st and I can’t wait. Get the word out to your friends and don’t forget to sign up yourself. I will be sending out a press release soon so spots will start to fill up.

I am also excited about our meeting place after the walk. Sarah Street Grille is our host and they are providing an upstairs room for us to gather, eat & drink, and share our photos with each other. Please bring cash for this after-walk event to make it easier for the waitress.

I did send out an email invite to those for whom I have an email address. In that email I also listed some FAQs that I will soon post here.

If you have any questions, please let me know. October 1st might seem like a long way off but it will be here before we know it! This Photo Walk is going to rock!

    Thanks!
    Bob

Your times are listed as 6:45 PM to 9:00 AM.

I’m thinking that could be a typo.

  2. Bob Shank says:

Thanks, Robert. You are absolutely correct! While I would like the Photo Walk to last longer, I will correct that mistake. Thank you very much for pointing it out to me!

  3. sarina cook says:

Looking forward to my third year doing this walk. :)

  4. Susan Field says:

I’ll probably come. When does the sun set?

    • Bob Shank says:

      Hi Susan!

I just checked and the sun will set at 6:44pm. I am wondering if we should move the start time up to 5:45 pm instead of 6:45pm. I did want to get in a little night shooting, but having some daylight might be helpful, too. What do you think?

      Thanks!

      Bob

  5. Leslie Nagy says:

Missed it last year, won’t let that happen again. Should be fun, looking forward to it.

  6. Narlene Jacobs says:

I am planning to attend my third walkwith the fun group.

  7. Bob Shank says:

It is looking like rain for this evening’s scheduled Photo Walk. Please stay tuned for more details here on this website. I am checking the availability of the restaurant for tomorrow evening and am thinking about having Sunday as the backup date in case it does rain. Stay tuned for an update later today.

    Thanks!

    • Eric Pasarin says:

Please let us know before about 4PM, as I’ll be driving from NJ and don’t want to make the trip to find it’s cancelled. I hope the rain holds out, as I won’t be available for Sunday.

    • PATTI ALLEGER says:

As I was getting ready for the walk, it started to rain. I can not justify taking my equipment out in the rain. I am also recovering from shoulder surgery and walking in the rain would not be a good idea for me. I am sorry to miss this and would love to attend if you reschedule.

  8. Art Ringler says:

I enjoyed the walk, did not get to make it on Saturday, did get to make it on Sunday. Glad the rain held off till we were finished. Would love to go on another one this winter, if possible. Thanks Bob for the great walk.

  9. Vicki Dodge says:

Thanks so much for hosting this Bob. It was fun even if it did rain! :)

  10. Bob Cook says:

I had a great time. Thanks Bob.

  11. sarina cook says:

Thank you Bob, for everything… the walk, your time and for picking my photo! :)
