  • Congratulations David!

    And the winner is…

    David Turner!

    Congratulations!

    Great composition and post processing.

I’ll be in touch with you soon to discuss the delivery of Scott’s book.
It was a close one and it was really difficult to pick the winner.
Thank you for sending your photos, you all did a great job.

  • WHAT A GREAT DAY!

    WHAT A GREAT DAY!

Thank you all for coming and taking part in my first World Wide Photo Walk.
You were all great to walk with.

I’ve seen some great photos at the back of you cameras today – make sure that you will submit your best shot on this page to get a chance to win Scott Kelby’s book “Light It, Shoot It, Retouch It”.

The deadline is 7th Ocotber, 4pm – make sure you won’t miss it!

You can also upload your collection to our Flickr groups: http://www.flickr.com/groups/wwpwstalbans2011 (just for our walk)
    and
http://www.flickr.com/groups/wwpw4 (world wide group, make me proud!)

Thanks again for making an effort and coming to the walk, I really appreciate it!
Can’t wait to see your shots!

  • Get ready: St Albans WWPW is tomorrow!

    Hi All,

The latest walk update can be found on my blog:

    See you on Saturday!

    Seb

  • Flickr group for uploading your best shots!

As you know each local Photo Walk winner will receive a copy of Scott Kelby’s “Light It, Shoot It, Retouch It” book.
It will be mine responsibility to pick the winner (and I’m sure that it won’t be easy!).
I will do my best to help you get some great shots during the day :)
I have created Flickr group to enable you to upload your very best shots from the day.
You can access it by following this link: http://www.flickr.com/groups/wwpwstalbans2011/
You will have to create free Flickr account if you don’t have one already.

So get your cameras ready, there are MUCH bigger awards for 10 finalists and Grand Prize Winner (more details here: http://worldwidephotowalk.com/prizes/)

  • Parking & Transport

The cheapest parking that I have found (not including parking on the street) is St Albans Station Way multi-storey car park.
It will cost you £2 for the day and it’s 11 minutes walking from our meeting point (Google Maps: http://g.co/maps/rajxj)
Parking is also available to the rear of The Alban Arena (Google Maps: http://g.co/maps/bmd7m, 3 minutes walking) and at The Maltings shopping center (Google Maps: http://g.co/maps/2ykpc – up to 3h: £2.70, up to 6h: £5, 2 minutes walking)

  • Meeting Place

    Hi all,

Here is our meeting place for our walk:

Guided City Tour Meeting Point, in front of the Old Town Hall (outside Merchant Tea & Coffee)
    Google Maps Street View: http://g.co/maps/u9sx8

The full route will be published soon, but I can already let you know that it will include:
    Market Place
    Clock Tower
    St Albans Cathedral
The Great Gateway of The Monastery
Ye Olde Fighting Cocks (the oldest pub in Britain)
    Verulamium Park and lake

  3. Hi all,
All the details (start/finish time, route, pub) will be available next week.
I have already ordered the perfect weather :)

  4. 12 walkers so far! Thank you for joining me, I hope that we will have a great time :)

  5. Deana Costin says:

    Hi Seb
I’m trying to join your walk as the one I was registered for in Bedford has been cancelled.
I am having trouble registering as it is saying I am already registered.
    Please could you advise

    king regards

    Deana

  6. Sharon Kaplan says:

Doesn’t really matter what your photographic abilities are, right . . .? I mean, you don’t have to be like a professional, is that correct?

    • That is correct! The idea behind the walk is to get together, take some nice photos without any hurry, exchange knowledge, get to know new people and then show your best photos in the pub (only if you want to :) ).
SO yeah… no matter what your photography skills are – come along and take some great snaps!

  7. Quick update: We already have a nice group of people that will attend the walk! I will be visiting St Albans this week to double check the route and pub options that are dependable on the final number of participants (I’m trying to get us a nice group discount :) )

One more thing: would you be interested in quick and informal strobist workshop after the walk? I thought that it might be interesting for some of you. Let me know :)

  8. OK guys, I’m off to St Albans, see you at 1pm!

    • Neil Hobbs says:

Thank you Seb, it was a great day and I for one am grateful you donated your time and effort into making the walk happen.

Looking forward to meeting you again, hopefully in November.

      Regards

    • Will Ong says:

Looking forward to seeing who wins this and potentially moves onto the big one :)

  10. Letty Forshaw says:

Would it be possible for you to forward my email address to Deana Costin – I was with my grandson in St Albans yesterday and she took a photograph of us – she said that if I went on facebook I would be able to see the photograph she took – unfortunately I am 74 years young but do not have a facebook account! If you could forward this on to her she could then email it direct to me. Thank you for your help in this matter.

  11. Clive Daniels says:

    Hi Seb,

Thanks for leading a great day.

You said in your most recent message to post our best picture on this page, can you explain how to do that as I can’t find any link or details on here?

    Thanks
    Clive

  12. Hi Clive,

WWPW team decided to wait for all walks to finish first and then enable this feature.
You can now upload your entries, I’m looking forward to all your photos!

  13. Hi all! Just to let you know – the author of the best photo submitted to St Albans WWPW contest will be announced tomorrow (12/10/2011) after 5pm. Good luck :)
