  20. On reflection unsure about winner doesnt really say Southport, stand out shots for me, paul sherriff, Russell Hart, ian newton, John LeFebvre, and mine

  21. Dave Barker says:

    Oh and Peter Holloway

  22. Russell Hart says:

I have to agree with Dave. The winning photograph says nothing about Southport. He could have taken the picture in Bournemouth – or anywhere else in the world where old people sit down.

  23. Peter Holloway says:

Regarding the competition, I think we’re maybe losing sight of the fact that this was intended to be a fun day out, which it was; for meeting other ‘togs, which we did and getting some different perspectives on shooting the town – which I certainly got.

It was great to meet, chat and see how others shot the familiar places. I’m as disappointed as anyone else not to win the comp, but that’s natural – you don’t enter unless it’s to win. As is obvious from my entry, I didn’t think that the submissions had to say something about the town. As Terry has already said, there were lots of stand out images. There will be more competitions, all with only one winner, but, I hope there will also be more Southport Walks and chances to meet up and improve together – that way we’re all winners!

I know that probably sounds a bit cheesy, but I just don’t want a Grand Day Out to be spoiled after it’s over…

  24. Thanks Peter and Terry for your replies,

I know the images didn’t have to say Southport but we were in Southport so I just thought, that they would as many of the shots do, as you/I say they all really stand out, and it must be difficult to choose an overall winner, I suppose we all see things differently, which is a good thing. I wasn’t complaining, just saying which stood out to me. I’m sorry if that’s not allowed and my post came across that way.

I’m not disappointed that I didn’t win, as I didn’t expect to judging by the standard of the images I saw in the pub afterwards, and the shots above, and above all it was really it was about enjoying the day and meeting everyone.

Yes Terry you did a fantastic job organising the day and made it fun, I’m not doubting that, it was a great fun day and good to meet everyone, and I enjoyed every minute of it, especially as the sun shone all day for us, I also hope there will be many more Southport walks as it was a well attended event

Anyway that all said, as I’ve said in a previous post congratulations to Ian, and I hope your shot goes on to be one of the final 11 images chosen, and puts Southport’s walk on the map so to speak :)

  25. Dave Barker says:

Out of interest can Ian/anyone tell us which gallery that image was taken in please,

  26. Dave Barker says:

The reason I ask is that a friend thinks it Alans Exhibition and thats Alan in the shot hows that for coincidence

  27. Dave Barker says:

LOL Alans got back to me and its not his
