Photo Walk Description

I’m so excited to be a part of this again this year. We will be walking beautiful Notre Dame campus. The football team will be playing at Purdue that day, kick off is at 8pm. We will be done by then for all you football fans. There should still be plenty going on at campus to make for some great photos. We will be gathering afterwards to chat and view each others photos. Check back to the website often for updates. Thanks! I can’t wait to walk with all of you!

  • Flickr Gallery

I have set up a flickr gallery for everyone to share some of their photos from the walk on Saturday. Here is the link http://www.flickr.com/groups/2011sbwwpw/ Can’t wait for the walk!

  • 4 more days!

Only 4 more days till our walk. I’m so excited to see you all! On Saturday be sure to bring your jacket it looks like it might be a bit chilly. Other things you might want to bring…sun block (just in case it happens to be out), a bottle of water and oh, don’t forget your camera! We will be gathering in the Bookstore Cafe after the walk. You can purchase drinks and snacks there if you would like.

I also wanted to let you know about the National Association of Photoshop Professionals or NAPP. NAPP is a great resource for photographers and pretty much anyone who does anything with photographs. It is very affordable to join and you get discounts and a magazine sent to you (I think it is 10 issues a year). Please follow this link to join or find out more information. http://www.photoshopuser.com/?aid=tcbuke They have a great referral program! I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Thank you and I can’t wait to see you all on Saturday!

  • Basilica & Administration building

I found out some more information…the administration building closes at 5pm that day so we won’t be able to go inside. Also, there is a 5pm mass at the basilica. We cannot go in during mass. We should still be in the area by the time mass ends. If you want to go inside that will be your chance.

  • Route plotted :)

Hello everyone. I’m very excited about our walk together. I would have loved to make this walk a little bit longer so we could go to the other side of the lake or up to the cemetery but with out time constraints it was just too far. You can follow this link to see our route
    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5077616
We will be starting at the North side of the stadium, head north to the library, west past the memorial fountain and onto the dome and basilica (I’m still checking to see if the administration building or basilica will be open for us), down to the grotto, south past the log chapel and some of the dorms then back to the main street to have another nice view of the dome and onto the bookstore.
I suggest parking at or near the main bookstore since that is where we will be ending. There is a cafe there so we can sit and share what we captured or talk about cameras and photography. Thanks for joining us!

    thanks for organizing this walk….

  2. Dawn and I (along with Rob Miller) are so looking forward to this year’s photo walk. We have enjoyed the ones in the past not only for the photography but also for the people that we have met while doing them.

    See ya soon!

  3. Karrie Wills says:

Hi! Do you recommend a wide angle lens for pictures of the stadium? If so, any suggestions on what one? I have a Nikon D5000. Thanks!

    • Michelle Szajko says:

Karrie, So glad you are joining us. Since we will not have access to the inside of the stadium it just depends on what you want your end result of the exterior to look like. I will see if I can get anyone else to make suggestions since I’m not up on all my lenses.

    • Jerry Joanis says:

      Hi Karrie,

I looking at wide angle too… check amazon for an adapter, it gives you a wider angle and they are pretty cheap, i found several for my canon. I think it might be a good starting point vs. spending a ton on a true wide angle lens. Just make sure you get the right size (mm), from what i understand if you need to use a size adapter you run the risk of some really bad vignetting, and not the “cool” kind.

  4. Sarah Johnson says:

Are you applying an age restriction to this walk?

    • Michelle Szajko says:

I do not have an age restriction on our walk this year. I love that children are excited about photography too. However, if your child wants to participate you will be responsible for them while they are on the walk and will be expected to follow the same guidelines as everyone else. (Pretty much just be good and respectful.) They will also need to be registered as a separate walker so they can enter the photo contest.

      • Molly-Kate Johnson says:

Thank you – She will have ME and another Adult walker with her (not registered, non photographer) – but she’s well behaved, AND EXCITED!

  5. Dave says:

Where do we enter the photos for the contest?

    • Michelle Szajko says:

Dave, sorry about the delay. They were having a little website issue. If you didn’t find it yet there should be a button on this page between the walk info and the map. If you still need help let me know. Thanks!

  6. Christie Jacobs says:

I am having trouble uploading my pic. I resized to the suggested MB. HELP anyone!!

  7. Sarah Johnson says:

do we get to see the entries submited? did they extend the deadline because they were having problems maybe?
