Photo Walk Description

Please ignore the map above. I accidentally saved the first searched location and now I am unable to change it.

Here is the plan.
We will meet @ Harajuku Station and walk down the Takeshita Street. Takebashi Street is the Fashion Street of Japan. Also known as the place from where Japan exports its fashion to the world. It has lots of small shops, butiques and restaurants. This pedestrian only street is always full with a the Young and Trendy crowd. From there, we can move on towards Yoyogi Koen. I am hoping that we can catch a glimpse of the Tokyo Rockabilly group that churns out rock songs from the 70′s and 80′s. We can also catch some live music performance from various artists who gather around Yoyogi on weekends. And of course, the Jinja fans can quickly visit Meiji Jingu Shrine.

All in all, I am looking forward to a fantastic shooting session. :D

I will update more details soon.
Cheers,
Shital

  • Are you ready

    Dear all,

Just 3 days left for the big day. I am all excited for the photo walk. Before you head to Harajuku, here are a few quick tips.

    1. Since Harajuku St. Exit is always crowded, we will meet on the Jingu bridge.
    2. Try to come 15 min early if you can. I am planning to take group picture before we start the walk. That way we wont miss anyone who leaves early.
    3. Make sure your camera battery is full and your memory card is empty. (Last time, one walker came all the way to the walk, realizing only after she clicked the first pic that she had forgotten the Memory card at home. These things do happen. So be careful. :)
    4. Travel light. Don’t carry too heavy equipment. However if you want, you can carry your tripod.
    5. Be prepared for a rain shower. – I will post again once the weekend weather report comes in, but just be sure you carry a plastic cover – just in case.
    6. Last but not least – Your safety is most important. Be careful while you shoot. :)

Looking forward to meet you all.
    楽しみにしています。

  • The Map

I created a rough map of the walk. Of course, this is just a reference line and our walk is basically a free route. You can take your time at a spot or go fast – get into that small alley or go round the corner. Its all up to you.

As I said above, this map is just a reference line. :D

Here is a quick FAQ I came up with.

    Q. What is a photowalk?
    A. Photowalking is the act of walking with a camera for the main purpose of taking pictures of things that the photographer may find interesting.

    - Its really amazing to see that walking the same street, each person takes totally different photos.

    Q. What kind of gear do I need to join the walk?
    A. All you need is just one camera. There is no specific requirment. You can bring a simple point-and-shoot or even a mobile phone camera will do.

    Hope this helps.

I am really looking forward to the walk, it will be my first one. Any idea if/where we will gather somewhere to look over our shots afterwards?

    • Shital Sevekari says:

      Hi Sarah,

Thanks for joining. Yes we will gather somewhere to share sneak peaks and some comments after the walk. I am just waiting for the count to finalize before I can think where we can all fit. :)

  3. Shridhar Lohokare says:

Finally I could register. Things are not working good with IE9. Anyway looking ahead for the walk.

    • Shital Sevekari says:

There could be some browser compatibility issue with the registration feature. But its Good to know you could finally register Shridhar. Looking forward to meet you on 2nd. :)

  4. Sarah Sutter says:

    So . . .time says 3am to 6pm . . . I’m guessing we’re meeting at 3pm at Jingu-Hashi (Jingu Bridge) ? Thanks for clarifying.

  5. Shital Sevekari says:

    Hi Sarah,

Thanks for pointing out. I have made the correction. :)

If possible, we will meet at 2:45 at Jingu-Hashi and take a quick group photo before we start walking. :-) I am expecting the walk to get over by around 5pm and then we can have a quick drink together somewhere. I just posted few details above.

    Cya on Sunday.

  6. Have a great walk…we will be thinking of you from the other side of the ocean (Austin, Texas). Keep it sharp.
