  • Please download your photos

Hi Everyone, you only have today and tomorrow to upload your favorite photo to our walk site. As of now only 4 have added a photo. Please choose your favorite from the day and add it to this “Walk” page, not just the flicker page. I need to choose a winning photo from our walk to submit to the overall site. Thanks! Geri

  • Rain???

Looks like most of the rain is north of us. I am trying to find out if the Historical Society is staying in the park or not. Hopefully they will remain there. See you soon!

  • How to submit your photos to the contest...

    After the Photo Walk

Once our walk is over, walkers will be able to log on to the Worldwide Photo Walk website, go to your walk page, and submit their best photo from the event to the contest. You can also go directly to our walk page. http://worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/sayville-ny-united-states/
While submitting a photo to the contest is not required, there are lots of great prizes available to the winners!

Walkers (and leaders) can also share photos from their Photo Walk on the Official Worldwide Photo Walk Flickr Group. Photos from events all around the world will be shared here so the entire community can see the global event they were part of. These photos are not part of the competition, but a great way for everyone to share their experience with the rest of the world.

Walkers will have until 12:00 noon EDT October 7th to submit their best photo to the contest. After that, leaders will have until 12:00 noon EDT October 10th to choose the winning photo from your walk.

Leaders are also welcome to set up their own Flickr group… http://www.flickr.com/groups/sayvilleworldwidephotowalk2011/ …just for their local walk if you would like to. This way your walkers can easily share their favorite photos from your walk with one another without sorting through thousands of other images.

  • Additional information for tomorrow's walk...

Good Morning Everyone, well here we are. Tomorrow is the Worldwide Photo Walk! I have posted a few links here that offer a few tips for the walk and may answer any additional questions you may have. We will all meet in the parking lot behind Century 21 Bay’s Edge Realty in Sayville. If you need directions please give me a call at 631-921-9329. There should be plenty of parking right there. • Hi Everyone

Hi Everyone, we are now up to 6 walkers, why not add a comment to our page telling us all a little about yourselves. We will be spending the morning together and this will give us a little head start!

We will be meeting in the parking lot behind Century 21 Bay’s Edge Realty, which is located on the corner of Main St. and Gillette Ave. Depending on how many we total the week before the walk, we will set up a place to meet after the walk to review all of our shots and have some lunch.

Can’t wait to meet you all!

    Geri

  • Free Giveaways

Thanks to Dianne Boothe we have some surprise gifts (Camera Bags) during our walk. Thanks Dianne!!!

  • Modified Walk Route

We will now be including some time down by the bay during this walk. We will start by heading over to The Common Ground Park for about an hour and then down to the Sayville Beach and Park for a while. This will be about a 2 mile round trip walk. Some of the things we will see in the park will be the Colonial Military Encampment, Indian Artifacts, and colonial toys and games. We will then head down to the Sayville Beach/Park and the Port of Call Marina, right on the Great South Bay.

    Welcome to Eugene Endonino!

  2. Jeff Macholz says:

    Hi Geri,

Really looking forward to this! I live in Patchogue, been playing with this thing called photography for around 35 years, took some time off in between to have children, etc., shoot mainly landscape, done some weddings/sweet 16′s/parties, etc. I do have a web site that I hope to eventually sell from. You can view it at http://www.jeffmacholzphotography.com if you are interested. Have a great weekend!

    Jeff

    • Geri says:

Hi Jeff, Thanks for your post. I also live in Patchogue and work in Sayville. Your web site is great. Beautiful shots. I have been shooting for about 5 years now and wish I had much more time to shot. I too am looking forward to the walk. It should be fun. I also have a website but it needs to be updated. http://www.gerihackett.com, check it out if you can. I am always looking for feedback and suggestions!

      • Jeff Macholz says:

        Hi Geri,

Thanks for the compliments! My site is hosted by Zenfolio which is very easy to use and update/organize. You have some very nice shots on your web site too! You have a great eye for composition (IMHO). Have you been to Yosemite? Wasn’t sure if one of the pictures was from there or not. I was there in 2009 and had a great time, only had a day to be there though! Well, gotta run, I’ll check out more of your web site later.

  3. Geri Hackett says:

Thanks Jeff, yes I have been to Yosemite. Most of the shots were from Nevada and Utah. I just love it out there!

    • Jeff Macholz says:

Would love to go out there or Arizona to take a workshop sometime. BTW, does anyone bring a tripod to these things? Just curious, I usually do my “serious” shooting with a tripod. Thanks!

  4. Dianne says:

Just wanted to let you know the bags were donated by Tiffen!! :-)

  5. Justin Boothe says:

I just signed my son up (i have no idea if this is going to post under his name or mine). But, he’s in. He did it last year. He is 11 (will be 12 on October 6). Of course he better wake up in the morning, i don’t want to hear a thing about being tired, LOL!

  6. Geri Hackett says:

Hi Dianne, thanks for being the first to join the group on Flicker!

  7. Jeff Macholz says:

    Hey Geri,

When we meet up after the walk can we work on our photos with a laptop before submitting them?

    Thanks!

    Jeff

  8. Geri Hackett says:

Hi Everyone, I hope you all got my latest email regarding where to gather after the walk. Please let me know ASAP.

Thanks to Cathy and Dianne for joining the flicker group already!

Jeff, as far as the laptops, it depends on where we go after the walk. We could probably use them at either place, but I think it would be easier at the second choice.

Diane, thanks for signing up your son. It is great to have kids involved!

Please keep in mind that my friend Lisa and I started this group but we would like everyone to be equally involved. Please leave your thoughts or suggestions for Saturday so we are all on the same page.

    -Geri

  9. Geri Hackett says:

BTW- if you would like to email me directly my email is geri@gerihackett.com

  10. Saulmon Addison says:

Hi all, i just signed up for the walk, looking forward to seeing you all Saturday morning.

  11. Geri Hackett says:

Our group is growing! We now have 13 people in our group. I have only had a couple of responses regarding lunch. All of them are in favor of pizza so at this point I think we will stick with that. See you Saturday!

  12. dusan maletic says:

Just learned about the walk in general… you were the closest one, so I joined. Amateur. Photographing since age of 8. Few years from 40 years in photography.
