Photo Walk Description
Note: The Official Worldwide Photo Walk Date is July 24th, 2010
Hi Everyone;
My name is Rig Galvez, I am a professional photographer who lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I am the leader of the photo walk this year again. Last year was my first time leading the (second annual) event, and was pleased with the turn out. Everyone was great, considering the fact that it was a very long walk. This year I made it much shorter, but I did include great places like Mission Dolores, Clarion Alley and 24th and Mission where there is always a lot of action.
We may start at 24th and end at 16th, simply because of the amount of traffic and the dynamics of the neighborhood.
Due to the tremendous learning experience and outstanding success, I am sure this will fill up rather quick. I do encourage people from last year to participate one more time.
Please contact me direct if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, feedback etc. You may also find photos from last year walk here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/sfmissionwalk/
Look forward to finding your participation.
Best regards,
Rig Galvez
P.D. Please make sure your calendar is free on the day and time of the walk before you sign up, and if for any reason something does come up and you can’t attend, please make sure you notify us.

Look forward to the day!
John
Delighted to see you!
What a great opportunity to learn and share new technigues and bring photographers of all levels together!
Yes indeed! A great way to meet a ton of wonderful folks.
I’m so looking forward to this walk yes!
Great to have you in it!
My old neighborhood, can’t wait.
Don’t reveal your upper advantage! LOL!
This will be my first time and I’m very excited about participating in such a world wide event.
Sandy, the level is worlwide and it connects us with the rest of our planet. We will make a difference!
Ditto, this will be my first time and I can’t wait.
Hi Carol,
Great to have you in it.
Have no idea whether I made it or not. Am sure there will be other walks in San Francisco, though. Should be a lot of fun. I love the area you chose, Rig.
Rig,
I was there shooting Carnaval as well over the Memoraial weekend. What a great little neighborhood. In fact I had breakfast a La Victoria this morning on 24th.
Cheers,
bill
Bill, yes it is a great neighboorhood, I will attempt to say it is the one with more diversity in it and cultural balance. It’s a friendly place to be.
Thank you Marianne, security was my main concern, and foot traffic is very common there. Along with the pieces of historical value, such as Mission Dolores, and a blend of different pop cultures.
This is my first photowalk and I look forward to the experience. I do have one question, does it make any sense to bring a tripod? Seems like the answer would be no, but I just want to check
This will be my third photowalk, my first in this location. While others bring the whole enchilada, I prefer one camera, with a walk-around lens and maybe a prime. I’d rather concentrate on the sites than worry about lugging equipment around. And yes, there will be a lot of walking! Hopefully, we’ll have some enchiladas at the end of the walk! : )
Thanks for the sound advice. I will keep that in mind as I plan my “kit”
Enchiladas are def. on the menu. “Pancho Villa Taqueria” serve some delicious food if you’re in for the Mexican taste.
yes it does make sense, depending on your style. ie: macro photography, architectural or if your camera does not have a VR (vibration reduction) feature.
Also, if you want to do self portraits, or want to frame your shots a little better, everything and anything helps.
Cheers!
Once again I am unable to get on the wait list it won’t submit. If anyone can help please do.
Don
don, four people are dropping out of the original fifty so there will be some wiggle room… cheers!
Rig,
Hope this gets there in time but it is with greatest sorrow that I must remove my name from the list of registered walkers. Please offer my slot to the patient photographers standing in line (er…on line?).
Hope to see you next year.
Have a great day. We want to see photos of photogs and their technigues.

Danville, CA. USA
Thank you Mark
I hope everyone has a terrific time (I was just in that neighborhood today!). I’d love to be there as well but I’ll be at a motorcycle race that day.
have fun at the race!
Hi Rig, will you let us know the exact meet location details soon? The map shows 16th Street, and you say “may meet” at 24th. We’ll meet in the middle? :^)

San Francisco
Hi Linda!
24th see you there for the second year in a row!
So the starting point is Mission &24th, not on 16th?
Hi Rig, OK. see you on 24th Street and not 16th. Your Leader News and Update info dated July 20th says 16th Street and I’m afraid that will be what people think is the meeting place. Thanks! Looking forward to it!
Hello Rig,
Just checking in to verify that if I’m still in. I signed up last year and also “confirmed” thru your email earlier this year about tomorrow’s walk.
Can’t wait. See you tomorrow.

Pam Borrelli
Hi Pam, congrats on being the chosen one for this walk! An absolutely beautiful shot.
What fun! I tend to “focus” on Deco, Neon, Terracotta, Travel and our 4 legged children, so went on the photo walk to see different things.
I just uploaded my photos to Flickr
