Photo Walk Description

La Union joins the Worldwide Photo Walk. The Photo Walk on Sunday October 2, 2011 will start in front of the Rizal Statue of the San Fernando City Hall at exactly 6:30 AM. We then proceed to the dry market towards the Slaughter house via P Burgos St, then to the wet market from the north side and out the south side of the market. We then walk along Rizal Ave eastward towards the highway all the way to the south side of the city Plaza. We then take pictures of the area including the St. William Catholic Church. This walk should last a total of 2 hours thereabout. All participants will then congregate in front of the City Hall at about 8:30 AM, where everyone’s output will be reviewed. Those who did’t have their breakfast can take theirs at Jollibee (Plaza) on a dutch-treat basis. We hope to continue this project annually (certainly in other locations). This PhotoWalk for La Union is organized by the former President of the La Union Medical Society and now the Arts Coordinator of the same, Dr Rey Espinueva. This project is in coordination with the La Union Medical Society, and hope to involve the SILIP photo club, and the local government of San Fernando City, La Union. Thank you to NAPP and Scott Kelby for this opportunity to participate in this worldwide event.

  1. This Google map keeps putting Ilocos as the State of San Fernando. Can’t go around this typo so to those who are not familiar with the place San Fernando City is in the province of La Union and is not located in either Ilocos Sur or Ilocos Norte.

  2. For the first time, La Union will be represented in the upcoming World Wide Photo Walk (WWPW) which will be on it’s first run in San Fernando City on October 2, 2011 Sunday at exactly 6:30 AM. The meeting place will be at the Rizal Shrine/Statue in front of the City Hall. Each of the 50 participants will be required to submit a photo for the walk leader to choose which among them will win Scott Kelby’s book, “Light it, Shoot it, Retouch it.” But all attendees will have a chance to win the Grand Prize and be among the 10 finalists (see upper right hand corner).

Unfortunately, there are only a limited slot of 50 participants for La Union. So head on and make your flicker account or if not you can make a new one.
Click this video on how to set up one:

Remember there is no registration fee required. As this is a first come first serve basis, I am encouraging potential attendees to first register at this site and then create a flickr account as a repository of all the photographs that will potentially be submitted to the WWPW.

    Good luck to everyone.

  3. After viewing the the video, head on to our flickr group:

    http://www.flickr.com/groups/2011launion/

then submit any test photo to confirm the link to your account. You can also submit your portfolio why not!

  4. Of primary concern is the safety of everyone during the photo walk. Be aware of where you take pictures as you may unknowingly be in a precarious position, or you may be in the path of a speeding vehicle. Please be in a buddy group of 2, 3 or utmost 4 so that everyone is all accounted for before and after the event. THE ORGANIZER/S IS/ARE IN NO WAY LIABLE TO ANY INJURY, DEATH, OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT of any of the participants especially within the given time frame of the 2-hour photo walk. Please sign the waiver containing this provision on or before the event. (Please print the waiver sent to your email and send the signed form to SILIP secretariat and/or you can scan the same and send to my email or as attachment to your PM to my FB account).

for any inquiries, comments or suggestions, just send me a PM or email me:
