Photo Walk Description

The Raleigh Downtown Photowalk will start at 4pm outside the entrance of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. We will walk through the grounds of the North Carolina Capitol, past the historic homes on Hillsborough Street, and through the warehouse district before ending at the Boylan Bridge Brew Pub. We will arrive at the pub at about 6pm where we can order drinks and photograph the Raleigh skyline at sunset. The route is mostly flat and we will be walking at a leisurely pace, so it will not be difficult. However, be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and use a good strap or bag for your camera.

Joel Collins, the leader of the Photowalk, is a professional photographer based in Raleigh. He specializes in travel photography and leads photo tours around the world. Please visit www.joelcollins.com for more information.

Oh I was so hoping to participate in the Walk this year — but we have a home game that’s going to be a conflict. Hope you guys have a great time! Maybe next year for me.

I can’t make it on Saturday. How can I take my name off the list to allow someone else to take my spot?

    Thanks!

  6. Karie Willis says:

There is a “Leave this Walk” button in the Get Directions box on this page…that will probably do it.

  7. Joel Collins says:

Thanks for everyone’s interest in the PhotoWalk! It is now officially full and there is a waiting list. If you have signed up, but you are unable to attend, please remove your name from the list to make room for others. Thanks and I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday!

  9. Joel,

It was a pleasure meeting you this afternoon on the Downtown Raleigh Photo Walk. I didn’t realize it when I entered, but someone said there was a contest involved. How many pictures can we submit, and where do we submit them? Is it at the Flickr site you linked to above?

    Thank you.

    Jeffrey Johnson

  10. Keith Kissel says:

Pleasure meeting all of you at the walk this evening. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s shots.

  11. Joel Collins says:

    Raleigh PhotoWalkers,

Thanks to everyone that joined us on the walk! I had a great time meeting each of you and taking photos with you.

Regarding the photo contest, you can submit your favorites right here on this page. Look for an upload link right above the PhotoWalk map. (The Flickr Group is just a fun way for us to share photos and keep in touch with each other.) Not sure if there is a limit to the number of photos you can submit for the contest — I’ll check. I do know that the deadline for entry is Oct 7th. Thanks and good luck!
