Photo Walk Description
Hi – I’m Shirlee Smith and I will be leading this year’s walk in Prescott, with my husband Dave. I’m a retired architectural photographer from Maui and have really enjoyed being just an amateur enthusiast photographer for the almost two years that we’ve lived in Prescott.
Downtown Prescott was the Photowalk location last year so I’ve selected beautiful Lynx Lake in the Prescott National forest for this year’s walk. We will be doing an afternoon walk because the light is really nice on the lake in the late afternoon. It may be a little cool so be sure to dress warm, wear good walking shoes for the trails, and have bug spray on hand. Please note that there is a $5 charge per car for the National Forest. There may be some early fall colors and of course the usual ducks and wildlife that surround lakes. After the walk we’ll meet at the Lynx Lake Cafe to share our photos and adventures of the afternoon. It is small, but does serve a great meal if you’d like to have dinner after the walk. The cafe is just a short drive from the boat ramp lot. I’m looking forward to a great afternoon of shooting and making new friends. See you October 1.

Have to attend a play that evening but going to do what I can to arrange to do both!!
Thank you for making the time to join the group. It will be fun.
I’m excited!
Me Too – It’s going to be great.
I am Phoenix based, but none of the walks down here really excited me this year. Looking forward to coming up north for an evening of shooting some new scenery.
Glad to have you joining the group. Lynx Lake is really beautiful, especially in the evening.
It’s just about 2.5 miles off Hwy 69 on Walker Road. I will post directions to the boat ramp closer to the date of the walk. If you want to check it out sooner and need directionslet me know.
I live in Lakeside, California, and look forward to coming to Prescott and going on this walk.
Welcome. We’re originally from San Diego. You’ll love photographing at Lynx Lake. This is beautiful country for photography. Prescott is only 98 miles from the Grand Canyon – 62 miles from Sedona. I know you’re going to really enjoy this area.
I’ve tried to register, but get feedback that my user name “Joanzs” already has an account. I changed the name and then got feedback that my email address “joanzs.az@gmail.com” already has an account. Help.
Joan – you have registered successfully. I had the got the same message because I am a member of NAPP and have an email address registered with them. My solution was to create another email account through hotmail. That should work for you.
We just moved to Prescott and have not yet visited Lynx Lake – this seems like the perfect time to ‘take the plunge’ . weather.com thinks we are getting 1.14 inches of rain today starting around 4p – isn’t that why they make plastic bags and rain coats? See y’all there.
Welcome M Stern. You’ll love the lake. Look forward to meeting you. Prescott has a checkerboard pattern for weather – so you never know quite where it will happen. Maybe it will bring some great clouds and give the lake that great stormy look that makes the amazing black and whites. See you later today.
