Photo Walk Description

This walk is a unique opportunity to see and photograph the inside of three micro distilleries, House Spirits, Decco Distilling and New Deal Distilling. We will meet at Bocci’s on 7th. The group will split and head to the three distilleries, we can then wander about between the distilleries as you make your way to the second and third location. The reason for the split is all of these facilities are small and 50 people would over whem the facility.
Bocci’s on 7th has agreed to open for lunch for our group if we have enough people interested in lunch. We can use Bocci’s lot and the street parking around the block.
All or the distilleries are excited about our group and are looking forward to hosting everyone.
This might be a once in a life time chance to have complete access to the entire production and retail portion of there facility.
Much of the photography will be indoors so bring a flash or have a way to steady your camera.
I lead the industrial/waterfront walk last year and look forward to a large group for this walk.

looking forward to this .. love machinery shoots

  2. I have created a flckr group for our photowalk, it is a public group, although you have to ask to post.
I am no flckr expert but I think if you search, 2011 Photowalk Distillery Tour, with group as the search criteria you will find it and be able to ask to join. It is a great way to share photos and get feedback for the ones you may want to enter in the prize drawing.
Also the distilleries have expressed interest in some photos, so it may be a way to either sell or trade some images for their product.
    Later,
    John

  4. Dear All,

We are just one day away from our walk, a few final updates.

I have created a walk map, with the addresses of the distilleries we can visit listed, and the recommended streets to follow.

Here is the link to the map; http://www.nwphotographix.com/siteimages/photowalk%20map.pdf

I have just received an email from Deco Distilling, they will be distilling on Saturday morning, and have asked us to be mindful of that. It should provide some nice potential for images.

Hopefully the weather will hold throughout our walk, although I would be prepared of some wetness.

Many of your know I have created a flckr page for us to post images to. You must ask to join. Type in the search, 2011 Photowalk Distillery Tour, with group as the search criteria you will find it and be able to ask to join.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me either by email or phone.

    See you Saturday.

Great walk today John. Thanks for making all the arrangements!

  6. Randy Kashka says:

Great job John — I’m sure it took a lot of work in coordinating the various distilleries to allow our groups in and spend time shooting but well worth the effort and made for a very unique walk. Well Done!!!!

  7. Kyu Oh says:

Now for the contest, we can only upload 1 of many that we have, correct?

  8. Barry Lundy says:

Didn’t get a chance to say thanks for organizing the interesting walk, John. We specifically picked it because it was specifically… different … than the other walks. Nice general subject matter. What an opportunity. THanks again. – Barry

  9. Russ Dunn says:

    John,
Thank you so much for all your hard work as leader of this years walk.
My wife and I had a wonderful time and are looking forward to next year.
    Thanks again.

  10. Barry Lundy says:

    John –

I will write privately via email, but what has happened to the deadline???

The site has changed once again! At last this weekend, the site had today’s date as a deadline, and now… it says walkers can’t upload any photos. WHAT??????

  11. Barry Lundy says:

So, anyone else who went on the distillery walk seeing this on the page?

    “Walker Upload Deadline Passed
The deadline has passed for walker photo upload. Please check back during the week to see which photo was selected as the Portland, OR United States (Bocci’s on 7th) Photo Walk winner.”

Because on the WWPW home page it says:
“October 10 Extended Deadline for photo uploads (12pm EDT)”

  12. Barry Lundy says:

My wife pointed out my error. WWPW did in fact change the deadline of being able to upload, however, they were not consistent with the actual time. It made it very confusing. Instead of being 12am as they had it before – they made it 12pm, which would have been 9am here on the west coast. They should have kept the time the same, but I guess I’m the idiot.
