Photo Walk Description
We will plan to meet at the Thomas Edison Statue which is in on the Saint Clair River Boardwalk in front of the Thomas Edison Inn and just south of the Blue Water Bridge at 6pm. We will walk south along the Saint Clair river on the boardwalk past the Huron Lightship and on to Pine Grove Park. We will then return back along the river returning to the Blue Water Bridge just past sunset. Hopefully you will catch images of passing freighters, people along the boardwalk or in the park, night lights on the Blue Water Bridge, the Thomas Edison Museum, and the Huron Lightship. The walk will total aprox 1 1/2 mile if you walk the whole circuit. If you get side tracked you may of course do your own thing but remember that this is also a social outing. Talk up your fellow photographers you may make a new friend or get a new tip on your photography!. Remember along the water it’s often cool so bring a jacket. You may also want a small flash light even though it’s well lit in case you need to check the settings on your camera in the dark. If you have a DSLR great but you can also participate if you have a point and shoot camera. Travel light as your gear may feel heavier as the walk progress’s. Best advice would be to stick to 2 or 3 lenses. Be sure to have extra storage cards and charged batteries. You may bring a tripod but it might create a heavier load a monopod could be a good choice. You could also leave your tripod in your car and pick it up toward the end of the walk when it’s darker to shoot the bridge lights. Be safe and remember to watch where you are walking as to not walk into any oncoming cars. After the photowalk process your photos and upload to our Flickr group page so that we can share our images with each other http://www.flickr.com/groups/porthuronscottkelbyphotowalk2011 We will have a rain date of Oct 2nd, 2011 same time same place.

The time for the walk is 6pm to 8pm not 8am-boy would we be tired!

After the walk we will be meeting at the Thomas Edison Inn in The Ivy Room which is overflow for their Hunt Room Lounge. The menu includes soups, salads, and sandwiches. There is a bar and also a live band in the lounge. You are welcome to photograph anywhere in the Inn but NOT in the Abbey Room or Abbey Patio as they have a wedding reserved for that night. Do not disturb the wedding party. The lounge is open to 1am so there will be plenty of time to stay and talk if you should like. If you are planning on attending the get together at the Inn please let me know so I can give them a number of people to expect.
Towner Jones Photography is helping us sell t-shirts to raise money for the Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya. 100% of the profits from the sale of these t-shirts will go to feeding and care for these great kids.
Here is a link to order a shirt for the walk should you want one. http://www.cafepress.com/townerjones/7948472
Hey Cindy,
Thanks for organizing this. Yes myself and Alexis will stay for the “social” after the walk so we can network with the other photographers.
I found it very easy to sing up online, the only tricky part was the secret code words at the end those were hard to ready, but it worked and I’m in. Alexis will sign up soon as she gets to a computer a the library.
Thanks again, looking forward to seeing you and the other “shutterbugs”. Lori B
I understand some people are having difficulty joining the walk. I have been told if you are using internet explorer that you may want to try to access the page via firefox instead and join in that way.
