Photo Walk Description

We now have permission to use the ISU Quad. We cannot enter the buildings, but I didn’t plan to do that anyway. We will meet by the Clock Tower (by West SUB Entrance).

We should be there about the time the sun peaks over Chinese Peak and it should be coming over Red Hill while we are there. There are lots of spots with interesting things to shoot so clean off your memory card before you come.

Parking is not restricted in the parking lot there Southwest of the SUB (Between Dillon and Humbolt), so there will be plenty of parking close by.

Welcome to those who have signed up. I’m looking forward to having this walk again this year. I’ll let you know when I get the location decided. I need to do that before very long. :P

  2. Yes, the Quad is a productive location. 7:00 may be on the early side for light by that time; the sun is barely coming up at 7:00 now.

      Thanks Ruth.

Sunrise today was 6:37. That’s not when we see it come over the mountain, but when it would show over the horizon if there were no mountains. On Oct 1st, Sunrise will be 7:44, so you are right that it will not be up at 7:00.

I would like to be there when the sun comes up so we can get “sunrise” pictures.

What do people think of starting a little bit later?

  3. Larry Petersen says:

I used a program called The Photographers Ephemeris to see when the sun would come up on Oct 1. The sun should peak over the top of Chinese Peak (or close to that) at a few minutes after 8:00 that day. So let’s change the time to start at 8:00am and run until about 10:00am. For those who want to, feel free to show up a bit earlier if you want to get setup and ready for sunrise.

    Hi Larry:
How can I remove my first image and submit another one?
    Thanks
    Tracey
