Photo Walk Description

This is my 3rd Photowalk and I’m very much excited to lead this one for the first time in Manila (the last 2 was in Cebu).
The CCP Complex is a Sunday destination for a lot of folks where they spend quality time with family and friends . Colorful, vibrant and lively are but a few of the adjectives to describe the place. People exercising, having breakfast, sunbathing their babies, courting (yes, CCP is also romantic in the mornings hehe) are a few of the common activities you can see and observe in this very much endeared location by the bay.
And then there’s the architecture – from the CCP building, to the Coconut Palace, the PICC, and the whimsical Aliw and Star City buildings. The CCP Complex is an exciting place and we’re looking forward to having an awesome time with everyone!

    Thank you for participating in the SK CCP Walk and the Photo contest.
    I have just closed the SK CCP Walk contest by choosing a winner using a criteria of 40% composition, 30% postwork and 30% overall appeal. With quite a few contenders for the prize, I’ve chosen the best photo of the SK walk from all the entries uploaded on the SK site.

    In spite of the low turn out today, the CCP Complex WW Photowalk was a success. Around 20 enthusiastic photographers joined us today and we were able to achieve the goal of the activity – meet our fellow photographers, and have a great time.
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

    Please expect and anticipate rains tomorrow. bring towels. raingear, ziplock bags, and whatever else you think will be needed to protect you and your gear tomorrow. and since there’s no immediate weather disturbance except for the expected showers, the walk will proceed. we can always call it off if the weather will not work with us tomorrow. SAFETY is always paramount.

  • The Big day is just around the corner!

    The big day is nearly upon us, and you are one of over 27, 000+ photographers out of 1,100 groups who will be taking part in the world’s largest social photography event! I just wanted to go over a few last-minute details and reminders to help ensure everything goes smoothly this weekend.

    - Safety is the top priority for this event. Each location is different and comes with its own dangers, so be aware of those things. Watch for traffic, don’t get too close to the edge, be aware of your surroundings, and so on. Keep an eye out for everyone during the walk as well.
    - Parking is available at areas near Harbor Square. Your landmarks would be the Jollibee and KFC restaurants on the right side of the CCP building.
    - Bring water, sunblock, and any other provisions that you may need during the walk.
    - I encourage you to submit your best photo to the contest so you can have a chance at winning Scott Kelby’s newest book, Light It. Shoot It. Retouch It., a full Adobe CS5 Suite, Epson R3000 printer, Nik Software Suite, OnOne Software Suite, Westcott Lighting Kit, B&H Gift Card, iPad (32GB), NAPP Membership, Kelby Training Subscription, Full Library of Kelby Books, and Photoshop World Ticket!

    The weather is a big question right now, and I have received inquiries if we will still continue if the weather goes south. As of now, I think we should consider it all systems go unless the weather goes bad on Sunday. That said, please bring protective gear for you and your equipment in case it rains during the walk.

    I’m excited to meet you all and have a great time with fellow photography enthusiasts!

    Our SK Photowalk is less than a week away! Yey!!
    Get ready to meet, greet, and have a great time with your fellow photographers. This is going to be big!!

    I just have a few reminders for everyone to help you get ready for the event:
    - SUNSCREEN!! should i say more? hehe
    - Wear White or purple and put on some headgear (cap, bandana, etc.). This will ID us from the rest.
    - Bring your very own awesomeness!! If we’re all awesome, the whole event will be awesome!!
    - Get to know someone in the group when you get there. Let’s keep the buddy-buddy rule in effect during the activity.

    This event will have all kinds of awesome!!
    See you at the CCP grounds in front of the fountain area. Assembly starts at 600AM and we start walking at 700AM.

    dont forget to bring SUNSCREEN! :D

  • Permits, the Coconut Palace and other updates

    Hi everyone!
    Well be dropping by the CCP Administration Office within the week to get the necessary permit/s for the group. We’ll also get information on the parking spaces and fees, etc. for those who will be bringing their cars.
    We have reached out to the people of VP Binay about a request to access the Coconut Palace during the walk, and they have informed me that the place is undergoing renovation and will not be open to the public for the meantime.

    I will also post this update at our Facebook group page(http://www.facebook.com/groups/259208624098811/).
    Also, please join our Flickr group page (http://www.flickr.com/groups/stellarphotoclub/)

      Hi Terry,

      The Coconut Palace, on F. Ma. Guerrero Street, is not part of the route. I wanted it part of the route at first, but then I realized that it’s now the official residence of the VP of the Philippines, thus it wont be open for the public.

      Hi,

      This event is open to everyone. There’s no specific brand, type or model requirement. As long as you can take a photo with it, you’re in.

    sir..u dont have a club or something kc ung sa QC photo walk na nabasa exclusively for The quezon City Photography Club .. it my 1st time to join a walk like this kung pwede mkasali… :D

      this group is open to everyone; people coming from other clubs, organizations or groups are very much welcome.
      the roster’s full, but you can still sign in as i expect last minute “dropouts” prior to the event. however, you can still take part and join the group on Oct 2nd even you dont get in the list.
