Photo Walk Description

Note: The Official Worldwide Photo Walk Date is July 24th, 2010

I lead this same PhotoWalk last year and it’s a great opportunity to see some eclectic houses, business and historic properties in historic Palm Harbor. Boyle’s Backyard has numerous photo opportunities in and of itself and is worth the trip just on its own. You can read more about Boyle’s here:

http://www.boylesbackyard.com/index.html

Steve Boyle is a gracious host and we’ll have a great time photographing this walk back in time in historic Palm Harbor.

    Greetings PhotoWalkers,

This is an early morning tour of Historic Palm Harbor. The parking is free and we had a great time last year when I did this walk. This is photo rich opportunity and there are numerous scenes to photograph. I’ll be offering instruction in HDR and I hope you can join me on this amazing PhotoWalk.

is there an age requirement for photographer?

    • Karen Sutton says:

I definately will join this photowalk. I have enjoyed all the photowalks I have taken with you and the NPPF and Tampa Bay phto groups. I learn about photography, composition and meet people who love photography.

    Hi Sandra,

I do not have any age requirements. Last year at my Palm Harbor PhotoWalk I had a 93 year old and 11 year old participate. The only thing I ask is for kids 14 or under to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The parent need not register, but they may if they are going to shoot and they want to enter the contest.

Boyle’s Backyard is a pet friendly restaurant and it’s OK to bring a dog. However, I ask that the pet owner be respective of the other PhotoWalkers and to also do any necessary pickups.

With just under two weeks to go, PhotoWalk Fever is heating up. We have just 10 spots left as of this writing and the walk will be full with a waiting list by walk day, Saturday, July 24.

I want to remind everyone that if you have to drop out, please do so at your earliest convenience so that others may take your place. Friends and family members are welcome to join us on the walk without registering for the walk. However, unregistered walkers will not be permitted to enter the Kelby Photowalk contest and will not be eligible for the winning prize.

I’ll be watching the weather very closely the hours before the photowalk. Your safety is of my paramount concern. In the unlikely event that I have to cancel the walk on Saturday due to weather (heavy rain, lightening, hail or high winds) the rain date will be Sunday, July 25 at the same time and same place.

I’ll have more updates as we get closer to photowalk day. If anyone has questions or concerns please feel free to post them here or contact me via email at:

We’ll we’re getting down to crunch time. The walk is virtually full and the plans are set. The weather is favorable (chance of showers, but that is normal this time of year) and the restaurant is ready for us. I need to let the restaurant know an exact head count and if anyone is not able to participate, this is time to withdraw.

Please remove yourself from the PhotoWalk by logging into the site using you Member Name and password you created when you joined the walk. When you’re logged in you’ll see a button in the upper right corner that will allow you to remove yourself from the PhotoWalk.

If you’re unable to join us, remember that the two Meetup Groups I lead do PhotoWalks several times every month. You can learn more about the groups here:

I look forward to meeting all of you and shooting with you this Saturday morning.

  6. Maria Chapin says:

I had the same problem when I tried to cancel because I can’t get there until about 10:00. Sorry.

  7. Jeff Donald says:

The Palm Harbor PhotoWalk is on. We may encounter some periods of brief showers, but overall the forecast is very favorable. I look forward to seeing everyone this morning and have a great PhotoWalk.

  8. Jeff Donald says:

Thanks to everyone for participating in yesterday’s PhotoWalk and helping to make it such a success. I counted 46 PhotoWalkers when we started and they all had a great time in historic Palm Harbor and at Boyle’s Backyard. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s submission. Good luck to all!

  9. Jim Caldwell says:

Thanks Jeff for putting this together! Had a great time and lost about 3 pounds out in the heat!!

  10. Christine Tabor says:

It is 10:34 ET Saturday and all is closed down … cannot upload…
the forum clock and flickr says it is Aug. 1 already.

This kind of sucks… everything has been in ET up til now.

  11. Christine Tabor says:

Well, I saw the email that we had until midnight tonight… it is now 10:39 and says it is closed.

I logged in earlier to make sure the log in button was there and it was.

But I was working and had to wait to come back.

    Now, I still can’t upload.

    I don’t understand.
