Photo Walk Description

We’ll be meeting at D’Arcy McGee’s before and after the shoot. Apologies if the map is a little bit confusing. It’s a little wacky to set up, and not user friendly when you want to make changes to the route. So, to clarify the route: go west on Sparks, right on Kent, right on Wellington, left on MacKenzie King, go down the stairs to George, right on William, right on Rideau, left on Col.By, go up the MacKenzie King Bridge, right on Elgin and back to Sparks. Clear as mud?

I know that is a familiar route, and I’m sure that we’ve taken hundreds of photos of downtown area before. The challenge here is to look at our city with fresh eyes and come up with new and different images. Besides, Canada’s largest curved glass wall at the Conference Centre wasn’t there last year!

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

  • Meet in Yesterday's Restaurant after shoot

    Hi everyone,
Tomorrow is the big day! We’ll meet in front of D’Arcy McGees at 3:00 PM. After the walk, join us at Yesterday’s restaurant on Sparks and O’Connor at 5:00 PM.

    Cheers!

  • SAFETY! SAFETY! SAFETY!

Safety is the top priority for this event! Please be careful while taking pictures. When we’re in the “zone”, we tend to be unaware of our surroundings. Watch out for traffic and don’t get too close to the edge. You can use escalators in the Rideau Shopping Centre to get to the Mckenzie King Bridge if you want. Be aware! No photo is worth getting injured for.

  • D'Arcy McGee is closed this Sunday- we'll meet outside!

I got a bit of a surprise this afternoon. When I called to confirm the number of people at D’Arcy McGee’s, I was told that it will be closed this Sunday as they’re doing some renovation. The manager somehow neglected to mention that when I booked the restaurant. So, we’ll meet in front (Sparks Street) and I’ll try & find another place where we can meet after the photo walk. I’ll keep everyone posted!

  • Good weather on Sunday!!

Only 3 more days until the Photo Walk! The weather will be a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 11, so NO RAIN! Get your gears ready and we’ll see you all on Sunday.

Did you create a Flickr group within the account? That way we can add pictures from our own Flickr account without having to sign in under your name. email me if you’re not sure how that works.

    • Hi Ken,
Not sure how it works to add from your own Flickr account. Enlighten me! Thanks……henry

You should have a message from Flicker asking you to join the WWPW 2011 Downtown Ottawa group. After you accept the invitation, I can give you administrator privileges and you’ll be able to invite the other members to the group. Alternatively I can administer the group on your behalf. The choice is yours
