Photo Walk Description
The Orange Circle and nearby Old Town Orange is a well-preserved section of old Orange County, still appearing much like it appeared 50 years ago. Tom Hanks used Glassel St to film parts of “That Thing You Do,” a Beatle-mania era film about a rock-n-roll band. There are many funky old buildings near the circle north and south on Glassel. The nearby train station, plus numerous little corners and interesting architecture mean plenty to shoot. If you’re into antiquing, you might want to arrive early, before the nearly 60 antique dealers close for the evening. The fountain in the traffic circle makes for great long exposure shots after dark.
Parking can be tricky, but there are numerous parking lots in the vicinity and street parking around the circle. The final meeting place is actually a small courtyard with both a mexican restaurant and a pizza joint. If we’re full, we may have to spread ourselves between the two.
