INTRODUCTION:

Welcome to the Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk along the West Coast from Mission Beach to Pacific Beach. My name is Sheila Newbery aka San Diego’s Redheaded Photographer. Although I have participated in many Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk’s over the years, this is my first time ever to lead one. Never fear for I have many years of experience as a Meetup.com event organizer leading fun photo walks all over San Diego. I’m photographically experienced in travel, people, macro, stealwool, night scenes, landscape, journalistic and many types of event photography. The arts has been a passion of mine since the young age of 10. My creative photographs has won several awards, been helpful for a La Jolla fund raising event, published on the web, books, and newspapers.

SUMMARY:
This is an opportunity no one should skip. Participating in a worldwide photoshoot you can learn from each other; the different photographic styles, equipment, socializing skills, and generally have a lot of fun along the way. Our journey will begin at San Diego’s ever-so-popular Belmont Park. There the iconic, historical 1925 Giant Dipper, a 2,600 foot wooden roller coaster still rolls, bumper cars, a merry-go-round, and a wave machine to name a few. Then onto the Boardwalk to walk for almost 2 miles to Crystal Pier in which the 20th Annual Pacific Beachfest is happening. Afterwards, there are several eatery options to choose from to go grab a bite to eat and share our experiences.

ITINERARY:
Meet up at 6:30 am on the lawn across the street from the roller coaster. Plan on shooting for about 40 minutes around Belmont Park. Then we will continue our walk along the Boardwalk heading northbound towards Crystal Pier. Thoughout the walk there will be many wonderful photo opportunities. When we arrive onto the fabulous Crystal Pier we will spread out into smaller groups to capture the activities from the Beachfest events such as the: Volleyball Tournament, Pro/Am Surfing Competitions, 5k Run, Food/Shopping Vendors, Arts & Crafts Booths, Live Music played on 3 Stages, and the Kids Beachside Rides. At 10 a.m. we’ll all go eat, drink, and share our experience. This is a good time to go over how to submit your photo/video for the awesome contest.

GETTING BACK TO OUR STARTING POINT:
Head south via a walk back or take the short approx. $1.75 bus ride back to Belmont Park. Some of us may choose to hang out longer at the Beachfest.

WHAT TO BRING:

I strongly suggest wearing comfortable walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, money, and a backpack to carry your gear. All types of lenses, lens cleaning fluid and cloth, a tripod, uv/polarizer filters, reflector, extra memory cards, and fresh fully charged batteries.
