Come join the FotoFacts Podcast guys & the staff from Bedford Camera for the greatest Oklahoma Photowalk experience in 2017.  This year, we head back to Oklahoma City’s western roots in the Stockyards for that good ol’ rugged cowboy look and the smell of cattle in the World’s Largest Stocker & Feeder Cattle Market.

Stockyards City was founded October 3, 1910, and was built to serve the nation as a primary source for meat processing and packing. By 1915, Morris, Wilson, and Armour all established huge packing facilities to slaughter the cattle, hogs, and sheep which were transported first by cattle drive and later by railroad and truck. The area’s nickname for a time was “Pack’ntown.” By 1961, faced with complete overhaul and updating of equipment, the packing plants decided to close. However, the Stockyards still retains its profitable cattle trading and related businesses. Since its founding, Stockyards City has been the place for cattlemen, horsemen, farmers, ranchers and real cowboys to come for apparel, equipment, supplies, a good meal, and the opportunity to catch up on what was going on over a cold sarsaparilla with fellow cattlemen.

We plan to meet for drinks/dinner after the walk at the newly opened McClintock Saloon & Chop House at 7:30 pm.  The local owners and management of McClintock’s have spent more than a year carefully researching, designing and creating this one-of-a-kind dining experience – complete with an amazing 50-foot long hand-crafted oak and brass bar and a commissioned painting of a prone, scantily-clad young lady just like the old West.

Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of skill level, and we encourage photographers to bring their family since this is a wonderful opportunity to socialize, network, learn and enjoy our city’s culture.
