Photo Walk Description

The Staten Island working waterfront photowalk will start at the SI Ferry Terminal, walking west along the waterfront promenade. A great view of NY Harbor, lower Manhattan and Bayonne New Jersey will be had from here. At any given time we could see huge container ship, working tug boats and other harbor activity. Continuing on Richmond Terrace there are may old building, including Leidy’s Shore Inn, the oldest operating tavern on SI, and Snug Harbor, former home for retired seamen, now a cultural center.
I’ve lived near the waterfront all of my life and have been photographing it for over 40 years. I have also been teaching photography for 30+ years.
We never know what to expect along his route so be at the ready for anything. It’s an easy walk mostly flat ground…wear comfortable shoes and bring water. There is also a large farm market along the route if anyone wishes to pick up a snack or drink.

This walk is on Staten Island, NOT New York NY(Manhattan)!

  2. deb felmey says:

John, I live in Maryland – but thought this year I’d branch out and join a photowalk somewhere else. This sounds like fun, I’m looking forward to it.

  3. Thomas Good says:

The list of cameras offered as responses to the question, “What camera do you primarily use?” does not include any “traditional” SLRs. So for the record, although I chose DSLR as a response (I may bring one), I will be using an F2! See you there John.

  4. Barbara Andersen says:

    Looking forward to this!

  5. deb felmey says:

I believe I just saw a post that RH Tugs restaurant has closed….
