Photo Walk Description

This year photo walk is happening in Phuket during the same dates as photographic wonder event – Phuket’s Vegetarian Festival.
We already know event schedule and have most of details of processions during the Vegetarian festival.
This October 2,2011, Sunday we will gather near Bang Neow Shrine about 7 AM for 5-10 min and will meet for about an hour after photo walk (around 11:00 AM) in Cafe 154 at Royal Phuket City Hotel
Jamie Monk did a really good job gathering all data and publishing the location of all temples/shrines involved to Phuket’s Vegetarian Festival

  • Update September 19 - First meeting

Those of us, who took pictures of previous Vegetarian Fesivals know, that it will be very difficult
to meet as a group in 6AM in Chinese temple.
Usually the place is very very crowded wit people and many thing going on , which require your’s
    photographic attention.
This is why we going to have our 1st meeting day earlier on October 1, Saturday at 12:30
at Cafe 154 at Royal Phuket City Hotel.
Many of us will shoot another procession of Vegetarian festival on that day and it will be easier for us to meet
    in Phuket after the shoot
On this meeting we all will introduce our selves to others, and it will be much more fun to shoo next day ,when we will know each other.

2nd meeting we can have on next day (October 2, Sunday) after the Photo Walk at 11:00 AM at the same cafe

  • Update on Sept 15

  2. Alf Tornatore says:

Hi, I’ve just joined this photo walk and looking forward to it.

The funny thing is that I was registered on a walk in my hometown of Sydney Australia.

Since then, we decided to go on a holiday to Phuket, so I was really glad to see there was a walk on that I could join.

    All the best,
    -Alf

  5. Paula and Bill Monk says:

We know Phuket City quite well now, but have never been in Phuket for the vegetarian festival. We are Jamie’s parents; Jamie has been on the photo walks in other years.
We look forward to a good experience.

  6. Paula and Bill – Welcome! Very glad to have you with us!

  7. Fabulous festival and a great number of photographic opportunities – thank you.

  8. Dean Noble says:

just to say thank you again Kim – and everyone else….regards to submission of pix for the walk will you choose from the flickr group or do we need to submit through this site our 1 photo for consideration…

    • Daniel Baci says:

Dean speaking for the entire group I was a little bothered today when I picked up the Phuket Gaz paper and saw 8+ photos of the walk with only your pictures published. At the group meeting you said you would pick the best photos from the group and publish them in the paper, I am not speaking selfishly as I wouldnt have been bothered if 1 of my pics didnt make it BUT we all worked hard that day + in post production to add 10 of our best selects to flikr in hopes just may be we would have a one of our photos published in the paper as you clearly stated at the meeting…… There were dozens of great photos taken that day from all parties “including you” it would have been nice to see all the different photography styles and best shot(s) from others… NOTE; This is not to cause argument nor any negativity at you just stating my opinion based on what I saw in the PG today, maybe you were planning to post some
      in another addition?

      • Dean Noble says:

I fully accept your comments and opinion in the way it is intended – and personally was a bit embarrassed with what happened, though the layout for that page was done very early on the Monday…I did raise it with editorial and the page had gone to the printers.
I am requesting them to do a follow-up for the photo walk with the pictures selected by kim – and congratulations to Artem Zhushman – awesome shot. At the very least I will do a net story so I can include as many as possible plus links for the pro websites – in some way more useful for them…though I accept that ideal or what I thought/said was going to occur. Please do accept my sincere apologies….

      • Daniel Baci says:

No worries Dean apology accepted. We were just wondering why it happened but as you said it wasnt intentional so water under the bridge mate. Good to hear you’ll be doing a follow up or at least give a Congrats to Artem Zhushman for the awesome shot.
        cheers
