Photo Walk Description

Note: The Official Worldwide Photo Walk Date is July 24th, 2010

I hope everyone is excited about the photowalk this year. Some interesting opportunities are available. We will meet at Montpelier City Hall and after a little meet and greet we will explore the old fire house. Firemen and women will be there for portrait work and we can also shoot gear and instrument panels on the trucks. We will explore Main Street and State Street going into museums, art centers and other historic sites. Some of you will want to explore on your own and others will want to group together and share techniques. It’s wide open as to how we capture Montpelier. Don’t miss the local farmer’s market which is very festive. I’ll give you more detail when we meet Saturday at City Hall (10AM). After a couple hours of making pictures we will meet at Main Street Grill and Bar to have a little to eat and drink while we share our pics. We will met in the “wine room” on the lower level at noon. It is very close to the Kellogg Hubbard Library which I hope some of you get to visit. Of course don’t leave out the Vermont State House. You could spend 2 hours in that building alone. See you all Saturday!

I’m quite excited, this was a great event last year and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Last year my husband tagged along and watched me shoot… this year I bought my first dSLR, so he gets to shoot with my old point and shoot!

Thanks for running it again this year, Roger!

  12. Sarah Brooks says:

Roger, what were you using for an off-camera flash during the dinner in the wine room? I’ve been racking my brain and I can’t remember for the life of me!

  13. Sarah, I was using a Canon 580EX flash with a PowerWizard Plus II radio transmitter. One on the camera as well. Over the flash I had a Fong snoot with a grid covering it. The snoot directs the light with more control and the grid on the front will create a moody effect by dispersing the light in a controlled pattern. I painted the snoot black because it comes as a silver dome and light bounces all over the outside. When I use more than one flash the dome or snoot gave me glare so I painted it black. You can see it here.
