Photo Walk Description

Hi! The plan is simple, We all meet at the designated location, let everyone meet each other, go over the route briefly, and start taking pictures. The plan is to walk into Southpointe Park and take as many pictures as possible in the park. We will gravitate toward the beach area and eventually start walking North behind the dune. Along the way, there will be a number of interesting views that lend themselves to be photographed along the path and over the dune on the beach. Once we get to the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas park ( you will see a children’s playground) we will get off the path, cut through the park, cross Ocean Drive at 2nd street and walk to Collins Ave. On the Corner will be the Big Pink restaurant. We can all stop and gather there for some refreshments and conversation. We will only be about 3-4 blocks away from our starting point.

Parking: I suggest parking in marked spaces along the street. If you are a Miami Beach resident, you can park in Southpointe Park for $6.00, non-residents have to pay $20.00. There are parking meters the length of Southpointe Drive. There are also numerous parkin spaces on Commerce street and Washington Ave just a block north of Southpointe Drive and within easy walking distance.

Restrooms: there are restrooms in the park and in the restaurant at the end of the route.

Water: Please consider carrying a bottle of water during the walk.

Sunscreen: well, we are going to be on the beach.

Restaurant: If you plan on ordering anything at the restaurant, be ready to cover your bill.

Images: You can take pictures of anything you want, but if you submit a picture of a person to the contest, please make sure you have a signed model release.

Fun: this is all about you having a good time. Come early, come late, leave early, leave late, it doesn’t matter. It is just about having fun taking pictures and getting to know other people who like to take pictures too.

About me: I am a photography enthusiast. I ocassionally take on professional assignments. I will gladly attempt to answer any questions anyone may have during the walk. You can see some of my work at www.gallagher.zenfolio.com

Enjoy!

O.O well it’s October 10th and there is still a “1 day left to change photo” box on the page for me. I uploaded the photo on the 7th right before noon but I’m just wondering when is it that we find out about the contest winners?
