Photo Walk Description
Note: The Official Worldwide Photo Walk Date is July 24th, 2010
Marshfield: Rich in history; rich in natural beauty; rich in great photo opportunities.
Are you surprised that this walk is downtown Marshfield and not at one of our beautiful beaches or nature trails? Don’t fret. We’ll see plenty of nature’s beauty as well as other interesting, historic, or eye-catching subjects, uncovering some photographic “hidden jewels” in downtown Marshfield.
Our starting location will be at the Town Hall parking lot. We will meet at the back end at 8:30 am and work our way through the First Congregational Church of Marshfield. We’re hoping to have access to the 1838 church building (part of a congregation that stems back to 1632). The Parish House usually hosts a flurry of activity and a colorful farm stand. We’ll capture reflections in store windows, cross the street to where Cedar Grove Cemetery overlooks the South River, walk back to South River and Dandelion Park, and visit the area that will one day be a formalized river walk, uncovering a few secretive “hidden jewels” along the way.
Crossing the street, we end up back at the Anna’s Country Kitchen, a great new restaurant with a carefully selected menu, delightful environment and welcoming personnel. There we’ll “chimp” and share images and comments about our photographs. People with all levels of photographic skill are welcome to join us. This isn’t about competition; the Photo Walk is designed to be a fun, social photography outing.
Luckily, this is a very flat walk. (It may even be wheelchair friendly, but I need to confirm that.) Your starting location and ending location are only about 1/4 mile apart. This will probably be a very easy walk, though not too short. However, it you’d like to skip portions you can still join us for much of the walk and gathering. The photo opportunities downtown may surprise you!

Oh, one more thing. Marshfield: Rich in summer traffic. Allow yourself extra time and patience to travel Route 139 in the summer. Depending upon the time of day you may face a little traffic backup. It’s really not bad if you plan for it, and it’s well worth the trip.

Connie, I would love to join you this year!
Just follow one of the “Join Photo Walk” links to sign up. Someone told me the link wouldn’t work. Then he updated his antiquated Firefox version and his Adobe Flash player (for Firefox and Safari) and it worked. Don’t know which he eventually used but he’s on here now.
I’m may be interested, but I can’t find the date. I’m also a member of FCC and may be able to help with access to the church, depending on the day. Thank you for the info.
Looking forward to joining you for the walk this year! Hoping to meet people with the same interests as me.
Hi everyone. I’ll be sending you an email in a little bit. I’m really looking forward to our walk. If you have any questions, feel free to email me (through the “Contact the Leader” button above). I’ll send you additional contact information in the email.
Look forward to seeing you on Saturday for a little play time!
Nancy –
Thanks for your note. I’m calling FCC now to advise Joanne of your offer. I don’t have access to your email address. If you send a note from the link above (“Contact the Leader”) then I will be able to reply directly to you.
Look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
– Connie
