Photo Walk Description

Hello again!

Thanks for your patience in this update. We have a fun time planned for you on Saturday.

The Marshfield Fairgrounds offer a variety of photographic subjects on a normal day. This Saturday will be no exception when part of the Fairgrounds will quietly take you back to a different time, and place and part will be bustling with activity from this year’s family-friendly Octoberfest, sponsored by the Marshfield Chamber of Commerce.

As originally posted we will all meet at 4:00 pm at the *** SOUTH RIVER STREET *** entrance (across from the fire station). I set the original time of this for 4 pm in an attempt to secure free entrance to the Fairgrounds for our Photo Walk participants. The fee waiver was not 100% confirmed. If we need to pay the $5 entrance fee and it is a problem for you please let me know, preferably in advance. I’ll do my best to work some magic. Parking is free.

Our walk will include a visit to some of the quiet corners of the location, some planted gardens and aids and tips for photographing people. We can also visit the Octoberfest area but only participants who pay the $5 will receive a ticket required for the food sampling.

Down the street we have the beautiful Marshfield Veterans Park, offering solace and honor for those who’ve served our country.

Some of the goals for this event are to: have fun, make great photos, learn a bit and enjoy an outing with others who share an interest in photography. We end each photo walk outing with the opportunity to chat and share images with one another by “chimping” with the digital displays on our cameras. As a group we can decide if we want to gather at the Fairgrounds or reconvene down the street at The Marshfield Tavern, at One Proprietors Green, (781.837.0000) behind Roche Bros. supermarket.

Thanks for your patience for this main update. I was awaiting funeral plans for an extended family member and hoping that the out-of-town funeral wasn’t being held on Saturday. Thankfully it’s not and we’ll have the chance to celebrate fall, photography and a little fun.)

Please note: At times it’s hard to edit this section. I’ll add any updates here, if possible; comments below, if possible; and posts on my Facebook wall at https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Welcome-Gallery-Photography-by-Connie-Drapeau-Kennedy/383043823065 (or search Facebook for The Welcome Gallery – Photography by Connie Drapeau Kennedy).

Hopefully, we won’t need any more updates!

Hope you can join us!

  • Hi all –

Not sure if my email made it to you but I had a nice time with all of you – on the Walk and at dinner. Please send me your email address if you want to attend another Photo Walk this fall.

Just a quick reminder: According to NAPP you have until 12 noon EST on 10/10 to upload your selected contest image to this site. For more info see the Worldwide Photo Walks FAQs: http://worldwidephotowalk.com/faq/ .

Feel free to add other images here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1768185@N20/

I’ll be offline for the day. If you have any questions I (hopefully) can answer them late tonight.

Hope you had a good time, too.

    – Connie

  • Hi. The last day or two I’ve been having a heck of a time accessing the editing function for this walk. I can’t imagine it will get much better tonight. I’ll keep trying.

Around 8:30 pm I’ll post any last minute updates on my photography Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Welcome-Gallery-Photography-by-Connie-Drapeau-Kennedy/383043823065 . If the link doesn’t work look on Facebook for: The Welcome Gallery – Photography by Connie Drapeau Kennedy.

I have another funeral tomorrow morning. My studio’s cell phone will be turned off. If you need directions or information call me after 2 pm at: 781.837.6021.

******** PLEASE NOTE: There’s been a change. We (and Octoberfest attendees) will be entering via the SOUTH RIVER STREET entrance, across from the FIRE STATION. ********

As for the weather: ??? I’m be there no matter. Ordinarily, rain doesn’t deter me but I am concerned about your gear. Sunday doesn’t look to be much better. I’ve promised to work at the following Saturday’s edible South Shore’s harvest festival, also at the fairgrounds. If we get rained out this week, I’ll try to be free for the same hours next Saturday. Meanwhile, let’s hope for no more than just a few sprinkles.

I’ll try to edit the official site again later. Otherwise, I’ll post an update on Facebook and try to email you. Thanks for your patience.

  5. Amy Zelig says:

My friend and I would like to attend this Photowalk. We signed up for Provincetown also, which is on Sunday and the website won’t let us sign up for two. Is that true?

    • Amy –

I haven’t explored the system fully this year but that was how it worked a couple of years ago. At that time you needed to use a second email address to sign up. Not to worrry. I have you on my list.

      Thanks,
      – Connie

  6. LISA MORSE says:

I am planning to attend this PhotoWalk on Saturday with my friend Amy Zelig.
We are also planning to attend the Sunday PhotoWalk in Provincetown.
Unfortunately the website will not allow us to electronically sign up for both walks, even though they are on different days.
Would you please add both of us to your walk in Marshfield for Saturday, as we have already electronically signed up for Provincetown on Sunday.
    Thanks Lisa Morse

    • Lisa –

What I wrote to Amy also applies to you.

“I haven’t explored the system fully this year but that was how it worked a couple of years ago. At that time you needed to use a second email address to sign up. Not to worrry. I have you on my list.”

Have a good time in P’town.

  7. Anne Winterbottom says:

Looking forward to this… may have a non-photographer adult tag-a-long.

  8. John Swarce says:

Just joined the walk (and my son will be joining as well). This will be my third walk. Can’t wait for Saturday.

    –John

  9. Deb Ryan says:

Soooooo, any additional information on the walk???

  10. Anne Graziano says:

First time walker. Is the walk rain or shine?

  11. Not a problem. In a “normal” year I’d ask that person to register, too. Just to keep the count within reason. Since I didn’t do any real marketing this year it looks to be fine.

    Let’s hope it doesn’t rain!

  12. There’s a little bit of confusion about the deadline for the contest. Although the revised deadline of the contest should have past (at noon) the contest still appears open. If you haven’t submitted your entry yet try doing so SOON.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve not found the Worldwide Photo Walk website super easy. Without emailing the leaders I noticed NAPP announced a change in deadlines on the website. As long as you can still submit to the site I’ll consider your entry. I imagine that will close *very* soon. (It should have closed at noon, EST.)

Once the submission period has ended we’ll choose our winning image. Three of us are judging; we have three different first choices already.

Email me (or contact me through my website if you had any trouble with your submission.

    Hope you’re all doing well!

    – Connie

Great submissions, by the way. Nice work!

  13. Dennis Racicot says:

    Congratulations Pedro!!
