Where We Will Meet

Manitou Brewing Company

Where The Walk Will End

Manitou Brewing Company

About This Walk

We will meet in side area of Manitou Brewing Company. We will disperse throughout Manitou Springs to enjoy the warm traditions and architecture of the historic town. There is plenty of activity in Manitou Springs that will give the photographer plenty of “street life” shot.

October weather can be complicated. Colorado weather is fickle at times. Be prepared for cold weather…this is Colorado.

Updates to come as we get closer to the walk.

UPDATE!!!!! Manitou Avenue is under heavy construction and traffic can be slow going into Maintou….It might be wise to take Highway 24 and take Manitou exit.  Weather is looking good but maybe a  light jacket would be recommended.

I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow at 11:30am.

UPDATE!!!!!!!

Contest Details:
There are two types of contests: a photo contest and a video contest. Walkers can enter the walker photo contest and/or the video contest. Leaders can enter the leader photo contest and/or the video contest. Rules and details are below:

The Walker Photo Contest
Walkers can submit their best photo (one submission only) taken during the walk to their walk leader. The leader will review all entries and pick 1 winner to submit to the main photo contest. These winners are also known as the “individual walk winners.”

The main photo contest has two chances to win:

Scott Kelby will review all the individual walk winner’s photos and pick 1 Grand Prize Winner of the Walker Photo Contest and 10 Finalists
But your opinion matters too! So we also ask everyone who participated in the 2017 Worldwide Photowalk to vote on their favorite photo to win the People’s Choice Award. Voting details to come.
NEW! Youth Photo Contest
This contest is new and specifically designed for walkers 16 years or younger. The youth walker may submit their best photo (one submission only) taken during the walk. Scott Kelby will review and pick 1 winner of the Youth Photo Contest.

UPDATE:

I have chosen the winner and I must say you have some really great photos.

You did not make my job easy at all.

Something just kept dragging back to this picture…

It came down to the boy and the dog…

I hope to do this walk again next year and hope all will come back to do it again…but different location…

Thanks again for the great showing…You all made this a very enjoyable time for me…I hope you enjoyed it as well…

  • Bonnie Ryder I haven't done a lot of street photography, what are the best lenses to use for this walk? My choices are (on a Nikon D810): 24-70 f/2.8, 70-200 f/2.8, 35mm f/1.8. I also have a 14mm f/2.8 but I assume that will have too much distortion for street/architectural work. Any advice welcome.

    • Patrick McMichen I would take your first 2 lens you mentioned...It easier to change lens than it is to wish you bought the the other one...

  • Alan Brandon Brandon Hi Patrick, Looking forward to the photowalk tomorrow. My wife and I are traveling from out of town, and we're excited to do a photowalk in a new place! -Alan

    • Patrick McMichen See you tomorrrow...

  • mollysmoose Help please. I'm trying to upload my imagine that I exported from LR and I'm getting an error message.

    • Patrick McMichen What was the file format you exported? Try exporting as a JPEG format.

  • Bonnie Ryder I have a street photo with a person & his dog. The person is the main subject of the photo and is recognizable. Does the contest require a model release? I will submit a different photo if that is the case.

    • Patrick McMichen I have been told no...

  • Patrick McMichen JUst a note...files should be jpeg or png format...
