Photo Walk Description
Note: The Official Worldwide Photo Walk Date is July 24th, 2010
Some say this country was born a few miles away with the first Minutemen shots in Lexington and Concord. Others would argue the country we know today really started here in Lowell. The American Industrial Revolution did not start in Lowell, but Lowell is where all the pieces came together to create the great American industrial model. Lowell is also crisscrossed by several canals which brought hydro power to these huge mills. The canals are fed primarily by the Merrimack River which we will follow during the first part of our journey.
If you joined us for the 2009 Photowalk you are right in thinking the above description sounds familiar. You may also think that we are doing the same walk this year and you are right, almost. It turns out that this year’s walk date coincides with Lowell Folk Festival. Wikipedia will tell you, ” The Lowell Folk Festival is the largest free folk festival in the United States. It is made up of three days of traditional music, dance, craft demonstrations, street parades, dance parties, and ethnic foods. All of this is presented on six outdoor stages throughout the city of Lowell, Massachusetts.”
I will update this site once I work out logistics. Parking and street closures need to be considered. So stay tunded.
