Photo Walk Description

Note: The Official Worldwide Photo Walk Date is July 24th, 2010

Hello there. Pete Carr here. I run www.vanilladays.com and I’m going to be the guy that you take Marvin the Martian to if he turns up.

Flickr group for photo sharing

This year we’ll start at St Georges Hall. Fantastic building with gardens on one side and all the museums on the other. You’ve got the Walker, World Museum and the newly done up Lime St Station all in that area. We’ll probably spend around 30 mins there then head off down Lime St / Renshaw St towards St Lukes “bombed out” Church. Plenty of opportunities to get some street portraits along the way. Good spot is outside Grand Central.

Once we get to St Lukes we’ll head around back and see whats what. Usually something there. Just a bit more interesting going through back streets than the normal roads. Hopefully see something different. Then we’ll head via the Chinese Arch through China Town towards Jamaica Street and the Baltic Quarter.

The Baltic Quarter is a great area that is currently going under a lot of change so its good to see whats going on in there. Lots of urban / industrial type shots to be had. Graffiti by the Picket, and things of that nature. We’ll hopefully end around 7pm at the Baltic Fleet pub for a drink and a natter.

Congratulations to John, that’s a cool shot and a worthy winner.

Pity there weren’t more entries though (but that’s probably down to the site being broken for a few days before the deadline).

Anyway, thanks for organising it once again Pete. It was a very enjoyable evening.
