Photo Walk Description

Welcome to the Worldwide Photowalk page for Kitchener – Queen’s Blvd/Queen Street.

This photowalk is open to photographers of all ages and skill levels. There is no restriction on what kind of camera you use. Bring a DSLR, film camera, point & shoot, or a mobile phone. New to photography? This is the perfect event, trust me. Come on out with a willing spirit and an open mind and we’ll have a great time!

— Who Am I? —
My name is Carrie. I’m a technical writer who works in the computer software industry. I started shooting about 6 years ago. I started on a simple point and shoot and eventually worked my way up to a DSLR. I’ve enjoyed the courses at Conestoga College and Henry’s. Nothing ties the education together better than just getting out there and doing it, one shot at a time!

— Photowalk Details —
Let’s meet in the parking lot of the Queensmount Public School. It’s at 21 Westmount Road West. However, I’m pretty sure there’s an entrance off Queen’s Blvd as well. Find your way to the Queen’s Blvd side of the property.

From the school, we’re going to walk up Queen’s Blvd. It will eventually change over to Queen street. We’ll go around St. Mary’s Hospital, into and through the downtown core, and will turn around at the KW Art Gallery/Centre in the Square. There’s always something great to shoot at our turnaround point, so we’ll hover there a bit before making the trek back.

On our way back, we’ll stop at Nougat Bakery And Delicatessen (600 Queen Street South) for refreshments. From there, our cars are about a 20 minute walk away.

Please arrive between 9:30am -9:45am so that we can take a group photo. The walk begins promptly at 10:00am and will last between two and three hours.

    In case you haven’t seen anything yet, here are some details on submitting your winning photo to the Kitchener walk contest:

    4 Days left to upload photo! Photos are accepted until October 7th.

    STEP 1: Log in to the site, move to our walk page and…
    STEP 2: Click Browse (or Choose File for some browsers) button
    STEP 3: Find and select image
    STEP 4: Click Upload button
    ***PLEASE NOTE***
    Suggested image dimensions should be no bigger than 1000 pixels on the longest side and 72dpi
    Maximum upload file size: 1MB

  • The Kitchener Walk Is This Weekend

    This year’s Kitchener walk is right around the corner and I’m very excited!

    I’m less excited about the weather, though. The weather forecast isn’t great, but that’s okay — we’ll make up for the weather with our enthusiasm and good cheer. Dress appropriately and consider layers for comfort. We’re walking a fair distance so comfortable walking shoes are a must. Plan for rain — you can wrap your camera in plastic to protect it from the elements.

    Please arrive between 9:30am and 9:45am. We’ll be starting out promptly at 10am.
