Photo Walk Description

Welcome to the Kansas City chapter of the World Wide Photo Walk. This walk originated with Scott Kelby, and will take place all over the world on October 1st! This FREE event is for anyone interested in photography. Whether you have a DSLR, a point and shoot, or a camera-phone, you are invited to participate.

I have chosen the CrossRoads District for our first annual walk. I have mapped out a route of approximate 1.2 miles, where we will get a chance to photograph the urban CrossRoads District, the new Performing Arts Center and more. We will have the opportunity to gather at Manny’s after the walk to look at each others photos and meet everyone. You are encouraged to upload your photos to Flicker after the walk. I will be choosing a “winning photo”, and the winner will receive a copy of Scott Kelby’s “Light It, Shoot It, Retouch It” book. There are also 10 Finalists and one Grand Prize winner chosen from all those who participated world wide.

I am very excited about hosting a walk this year, and hope to meet some new people with an interest in photography! This will be a great opportunity for you to get some great photos, and maybe make some new friends who share your passion for photography.

    Thanks for the walk today.

Hello everyone! Hope you’ve had a chance to look over your fabulous photos and get them uploaded to Flickr. The WWPW seemed to be having issues yesterday – neither James nor I could get on to this site. All seems okay this morning, though. I’ll leave this open a couple more days to allow everyone time to share their photos. Hope to have a ‘winning photo’ chosen by Friday. Good luck!

Also, above the map, there is a link for you to upload your best images to this site. Please choose your favorites and put them here for all to see!

You’ll notice I tried something different – a narrow format, both horizontal and vertical. Not sure what I think of the idea. How about you?

Great shooting with all of you!

Best we could do with our point and shoot. Haven’t edited out the junk.
Really enjoyed the terrific walk and awesome day!

    Thanks to Michele for hosting.

  9. James Shilt says:

Is there any way to see the pictures that each person has uploaded for their entry into the contest? I don’t see any pictures that are on this page.

    • Michele Bramble says:

The deadline to submit a photo was moved to October 10th. Once the deadline has passed, you’ll then be able to see all the photos that were submitted.

  10. Michele Bramble says:

James, they were supposed to show up after Friday’s noon deadline. I’ll try to find out what’s going on.

  11. Michele Bramble says:

Please take a moment and complete this short survey. This will help me know how to improve next year’s walk, and allow me to contact you about future walks. Thanks!

Congratulations Angela on your photo being selected as best for the location! Your composition and depth of field really draw in the viewer. Well done!

  15. James Shilt says:

Wise choice. Angela this was a great shot!

  16. Michele Bramble says:

Congratulations, Angela! Pat and James’ comments are exactly why I chose your shot. You used an everyday object that most people wouldn’t give a second thought, added some great photographic techniques, and gave us a very creative shot. Great work!

  17. Angela L says:

Oh wow, thank you! :) Great photos everyone! I really enjoyed seeing everyone’s work!
