Photo Walk Description

Downtown Honolulu and Chinatown on a Saturday is a target-rich environment for photographers. We’ll meet on the front lawn of the Hawaii State Art Museum at 9:15 AM, and then meet for lunch at Brasserie Du Vin (http://www.bambutwo.com/duvin/) at 11:30. Depending on which direction you choose to go, there is the State Capitol and Iolani Palace on the Diamond Head side. Ewa-bound there is Downtown and Chinatown – with all of its markets in full swing. There are parks, the Hawaii Theater, and the many interesting people that populate the area. This is a great opportunity to meet people who share the same interests, learn something, have a great meal, and most importantly, to have fun.

  • Tomorrow is the day!

I’m looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow morning. We are going to have a great time. See the walk page for some great suggestions for parking. I’ll be parking at Alii Place, just because it is the cheapest I know of in the area. We’ll meet on the museum lawn, then go for our walk and finish up with a great lunch. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them on the walk page. See you tomorrow!

  1. Ryan Sakamoto says:

I know that there is street metered parking, is there any where else we can park for 3-4 hours without having to return to our cars to feed the parking meter?

  2. Jason Tam-Hoy says:

I live in Capitol Place, there is public parking in the building.. it’s only a block away.. If you don’t know which building it is, look for the big “H” Honda emblem, it’s the only really BLUE building in the area..

    • Doug Broyles says:

That’s a really handy location. Is there a fee for parking in “The Honda Building”?

I usually park at Ali‘i Place with the up ramp on Alakea right side, heading mauka just before Hotel St.

The underground lot at Beretania/Nu‘uanu is a very nice one as Ann Cecil informs.

  3. Pat says:

Is this for novice as well as professional photographers?

  4. william yip says:

dont know why it wont let me sing up

  5. Josie says:

What is the age limit for this walk? Are children allowed? 11 and 14? They both have experience.

  6. Doug Broyles says:

It looks like I’m going! I am a bit confused, though. First it showed there was a slot left, so I enrolled, then I got an email stating I was wait-listed and would be informed if I made it on the list due to a cancellation.

I didn’t receive any email, but went in to the Attendee List and found I was not on the Wait List, but on the Attendee List! Who knows, life is so mysterious… Time for a walk-about on Saturday.

This was fun! I just tried to post a single comment and the page says, “Slow down! You’re posting comment too quickly!” HA
