Photo Walk Description

2011 will be the first year in which a WWPW (World Wide Photowalk) will be held in Helmond.

Scott Kelby is a worldwide known author of many photograpy, Photoshop and lightroom books. He organizes a lot of seminars, online webcasts, tv-shows and many many more media with lots and lots of instructions and training on these subjcts. A couple of years back he begun to organize a WWPW and this became a phenomenon. This simple walk, lead by a “walkleader”, became so big that many WWPW’s are organized nowadays. Each photo-enthusiast can participate, you don’t have to be a member of a (local) photo club or be a professional.
Just a camera, a bunch of enthusiasm and a good laugh are necessary to walk along. The walk will take about 2 hours and afterwards we will chat and drink some in one of the local pubs in downtown Helmond. The goal of this walk is A) photography, B) lots of fun, C) exchange of experience and opinion and finally D) everything we all make of it ourselves.

I took the initiative to organize this walk in Helmond on my own name (Jeroen de Kort, www.jdekort.com) and a bit for my Photoclub Fotodier (www.fotodier.nl). We will start at the gates of the Helmond castle and we will admire some old (castle and old Helmond) and Italian (Boscotondo) architecture in downtown Helmond and the new block “Zuidkade”. In the end we will stop at the one and only place with lots of pubs and restaurants in the harbor area (“het Havenplein”).

Oh, before i forget; all photos made during this HPW (Helmondse Photo Walk) will be judged by me and i have the privilege to select one as the best. This best shot will go to Scott Kelby and you will win a price, one of his excellent books. You can read more on this website.

So… come and join me on this first Helmondse Photo Walk!!

  • Last minute update

    Hi All,

Some last minute updates and things not to forget:
    - In central Helmond there is enough parking space, try to park your car somewhere around the castle or around “De Traverse”.
    - We meet right in front of the entrance of the castle, between the two towers… you can’t miss it.
    - The expectations are that it will be a beautifull day, make sure you bring some water or other refreshments to keep yourself cool during the walk.
    - Because the sun will shine at its best tomorrow it may be wise to bring some sunscreen. Better a little tan than a burned red head.
    - After the weekend you can enter your photo for the competition right on this page. You’ll have until the 6th of october to enter your photo.
    - After the 6th of october i have until 10 october to view all photos and select the best which will enter the Scott Kelby price competition.
    - Don’t forget to share your photos in our Flickr group.

    Prizes you can win are:
Scott Kelby’s newest book, Light It. Shoot It. Retouch It., a full Adobe CS5 Suite, Epson R3000 printer, Nik Software Suite, OnOne Software Suite, Westcott Lighting Kit, B&H Gift Card, iPad (32GB), NAPP Membership, Kelby Training Subscription, Full Library of Kelby Books, and Photoshop World Ticket!

  • Flickr group available

    Hi guys,

I’ve created a Flickr group so we can post our images and discuss them. Join http://www.flickr.com/groups/wwpw2011helmond to share your images and discuss them. There is also a world wide Flickr group but i’ll communicate that in a separate message/update.

Remember, this Flickr group is only for the images of the World Wide Photowalk in Helmond on the 1st of October 2011. You can and may produce images that are Photoshopped … BUT, the only rule is that they must be made during the photowalk and if your composing images then all used photos in your composition should be made during the photowalk (yes, even a brick wall or a beautifull sky).

    See you tomorrow.

  • Demonstraties in Helmond

    Hoi allemaal,

    Jeroen
