Photo Walk Description

The photo walk will take place at historic Fort Monroe. It will begin in Continental Park at the gazebo and follow the sea wall and Fenwick Road. It will go inside the moat and continue through the sally port near the Casemate Museum. The end point is the marina, where we might be lucky enough to catch a beautiful sunset. Parking is available across the street from the Chamberlin Hotel. There are historic buildings and beach scenery along the way.

This walk will take place after the U.S. Army pulls out. I’m really hoping that we won’t have any problems getting access to the fort. I know this historic site holds a special place in the hearts of many, so I thought this would be an outstanding opportunity to get some up-close-and-personal shots of some of the areas. I have mapped out a route, however, I’m not really going to hold anyone to staying on that particular path. I know that some of you might want to visit other spots within the fort’s boundaries. That’s fine! Just make sure you watch the time and try to meet up with the group at Sarah’s Irish Pub afterwards.

I have a military ID which allows me access. Do others need a visitor’s pass beforehand?

      • Virginia Hagin says:

        Pete –

This is a very good question. Please come prepared to show a driver’s license (or military I.D.) to gain access, however, since the fort will no longer be maintained by the Army, I am hoping that there will be no entrance requirements.

  4. Barbara Garay says:

I am so glad you picked late afternoon, early evening hours. It will be a great time and place for taking photos. Thanks for organizing this group.

  5. Judy Ozmar says:

The info on the page says that there is room for 29 others. Is this correct? I have some friends that may want to join. Thanks! This should be a great walk/shoot.
    Judy

  6. Virginia Hagin says:

Judy – The number shown should be the correct number of spots left. If your friends want to join us, they’ll need to register soon! :)

  7. Devona McGill says:

Time is getting closer and I can’t wait. This will be my first walk and I’m looking forward to it.
