Photo Walk Description

We will hike up Lakeview Trail at Lockes hill This is a .65 mile moderate hike that should take 1/2 hour. Hopefully we will see birds and wildlife in their natural habitat. At the top we will see some spectacular views of Lake Winnepesaukee, and rocks deposited by glacial activity thousands of years ago. We can stop for a quick bite to eat if you bring a bag lunch, and then will continue down the Quarry Trail. This is about 1.15 miles and should take 45 minutes. Along this route, We will see the quarry pool from which granite was hauled to build Kimball’s castle in the late 1890′s. Afterwards, we may make our way (by car) to Patricks pub in Gilford.
I am a photographer and President of the Gilford Clickers Photography Club. I’d suggest wearing good hiking shoes, water, appropriate clothing depending on the weather, and a lite bite to eat, and possibly some bug repellant. And don’t forget your camera!

Joined for the Walk. At least I tried. Now tells me account with user name Joanstephenson already exists and that account with joancs@metrocast.net already exists!

So never got past the error messages at bottom of join walk entry form.

  2. Emery Swanson says:

Hi Joan, I noticed that it seems to sign people up twice. But I did get the email notifying me of your enrollment. That’s great!
We can check things out at the next camera club meeting.

  3. Deb Bell says:

Wish I lived closer so I could come. Looks like fun.

  4. John Burland says:

The site appears to have performed a dupe registration for the walk, which is fine because Mrs B will tag along.

We’re out-of-towners, vacationing in New England, based in Concord.

BTW – discovered the concept via City Daily Photo. I do mainzdailyphoto.com

    • Emery Swanson says:

Hi John -Welcome! Yes, it has been giving the appearance of a double registration for everyone. But actually it is only registering once. Glad to have you and Mrs. B along. If your wife plans on taking pics, just register for her also so she can be in the running for any prizes. If she’s just coming for fun, then no need to register. I’ll be sending out more info in the coming weeks, but if you have any questions, just drop me a line.
      See you on Oct 1st!
      Best regards
      Emery

Hi gang, the walk is just 4 days away! Couple of things…Right now it
says there is a 40% chance of rain. If so, we’ll have to go with a
rain date of Sunday, same time, 9:45. I’ll make an executive decision
that morning. Or if it looks like Saturday afternoon will clear up, we
will try for Sat at 2pm.
Secondly? So you know anyone else who is interested in coming? Have
them sign up…they may win a free book!
And lastly, if you have any questions or concerns, you can email me at
eswanson@metrocast.net Keep an eye on the site for any messages later
    in the week.
    Take care

Good morning gang. Well it’s not looking good right now in Gilford No rain yet, but it’s darker than it was an hour ago. The rest of the weekend is looking worse.
I think what I will do is head up to Lockes Hill for 9:45 as planned and see what it looks like then. Please use your own best judgement if you are really gung-ho about heading out hiking. If it’s not raining at 9:45, I’ll go.
As an alternative, if you don’t go out, I’d like to submit your best picture taken either today or tomorrow. Some scenic picture. Tree, mushroom, Storm! Anything.
I’ll use that as your entry for the contest. Pic has to be taken today or tomorrow and submitted by noon on Oct 7th.
    Fingers crossed!

Hey Troopers! Thanks to all of you die hards who showed up today. Not sure how our pictures came out, or if our cameras got ruined, but thanks for coming out! Thanks to Joan, Ashley, Jordan, Bernice, Sue, Jim, and Carolyn. I’ll send you a link to the flikr site where you can post any of your pictures. Then your best one needs to be posted here sometime between Monday the 3rd and Friday the 7th ( at Noon) for me to vote for my favorite.
Thanks again. Hope you don’t all get pnuemonia.
    Emery
