Photo Walk Description

The Fredericton walk will go along the Saint John River, by Old Government House, the rowing club, through Wilmot Park and by the raceway, and back to finish where we started. There should be plenty of interesting things to put in front of your lens! Wear good walking shoes, bring a good attitude and a willingness to have fun and meet new phriends. We can all learn from each other, regardless of experience or who has the fanciest camera gear.

    add me to the list.

I have grumpy knees so probably I won’t be able to go the whole distance, but I will do what I can..do my one thing a bit and then meet at Purdy’s whenever the group is finished.

    • Hi Viv,

You’ll need to sign up, by clicking on the “join this walk” button, near the top of this page. You’re certainly welcome to join us for as long as your grumpy knees will allow!

  2. So far, the weather looks a little questionable. Watch this space Saturday afternoon for a final verdict. If it’s pouring, we’ll postpone to Sunday afternoon (although we’ll be sharing space with Run For the Cure people…which might be interesting too).

Some thoughts for shooting in wet conditions though:
    – Bring an umbrella and wear appropriate clothing. A spare change of socks and shoes will make our social time and your drive home a lot more comfortable too.
    - Carry a simple plastic grocery bag in your pocket or camera bag. You can just drape that over your camera if the rain starts
    - If you have a rain cover (like a ThinkTank Hydrophobia), put it to use. Otherwise, you can shoot through a hole in a plastic bag too.
    - Use the lens hood that came with your lens; it’ll help keep water spots off the glass.
    - Don’t change lenses in the wet. Your camera and lens are probably *fairly* moisture resistant, but that big hole in the front when you take off the lens isn’t!

Honestly, wet leaves and pavement looks really nice in photos, and the diffuse light of an overcast sky is usually your friend.

I’ll post here, as well as send a message to everybody who’s signed up, by 3:00 on Saturday if we’re postponing. I’ll be out of town for most of the day though, with little access to a computer before that.

Let’s just hope the rain holds off. See you tomorrow!

The walk still a go? Its raining pretty good right now:(

  4. looks like we’ll have to aim for tomorrow, folks. Keep your eyes on this space for further updates, but don’t look for us at the Delta today. Sorry, but what can ya do?!?

  5. Let’s shoot for 4:30 today. The weather is cool, and there’s still a chance of a scattered shower, so wear something warm. We’ll meet at the Delta, as previously planned, but we might have to change up the route a little bit, depending on how busy it is due to Run for The Cure. Details to follow when we meet. Please arrive just a few minutes early–we’ll be walking away at 4:30 sharp. Hope to see you then!

  7. Andre Reinders says:

Is there a place we can share photos from the walk? The main site suggests flickr – I just signed up but I don’t see a WWFW Fredericton 2011 site or group or anything…
    Thanks!

  8. Janet Crawford says:

    Hi Aaron,
Thanks for bravely leading the walk in the rain. I am not having any luck logging in.
I tried pressing login at the top of the page and also in the box. Any suggestions?

  9. Trevor Morris says:

It was great meeting and talking with everyone! I hope to see you all next year — if not sooner.
