Photo Walk Description

At this stage, I am anticipating starting at Queens Park and walking into the CBD area. There may still be flowers to snap, but also some different sides to Toowoomba other parts of the CBD to the real “city” area.

Perhaps we could walk along the tree-lined creek along Kitchener Street, get some shots around the Church on the corner of Herries, maybe the markets, etc then loop back through the city and then finish up at the Coffee Club in Grand Central. That venue may need to change depending on what numbers we get attending.

I am open to discussing other locations within the Toowoomba region and then finalising any changes in the week or so before the walk.

A bit about me – I’ve loved photography since I was a child, but never got to really pursue it much until 3 years ago when I finally got a digital SLR camera. I had learned how to take photos with film, but through uni couldn’t afford to buy my own SLR film camera, and then “life got busy” for a while. Now I am back at it – trying to learn from others, to teach others who have realised what a joy photography can be and to just see more of the world around me in a photographic sense.

Sometimes we look around and don’t see anything to shoot, when wonderful shots are sitting there, right in front of our faces!

  • Update to kick-off time and place

    We are now going to join forces with a local photography group (Focused On Photography Club) who are also having a walk scheduled in for the 2nd.

    We will be meeting at McDonalds on Margaret Street at 8:30am – parking at the very rear of McD’s. We will walk around the CBD for approximately 2 hours before returning to McD’s to catch up for a bit. The other photowalk group may continue around town for longer, but the “worldwide photo walk” part of the group will officially end about 10:45am.

    Remember, there are prizes to be won for entries made into the image competition from this walk. You don’t have to have a fancy camera to join in…!

  • Proposal for walk location...

    I have had another idea for our walk to make it easier for everyone.

    How about we start the walk at Grand Central, so there is plenty of parking, and we come back to where our cars are. I then propose that we walk towards Herries Street, around Councils buildings, the Churches etc of the area and maybe through the markets.

    The main idea of this proposal is that its not too far for anyone to walk if they aren’t quite as fit as the bulk of people, but we can still see buildings with character, and have fun with the social gathering and exploring the CBD… saves anyone rushing ahead if they are fitter, or getting behind if they are slower or taking lots of pictures…

    Anyway – please give me feedback on this idea. I’ll firm up the location by Thursday or Friday this week.

    Hi Kristan, I’m from the Focused On Photography Club. We’ve organised a club shoot for Sunday Oct 2 & one of my friends brought to my attention the World Wide Photo walk & suggested that we could maybe meet up with you’s??? Our club was planning on meeting at McDonald’s, Margaret Street at 8:30am, having a cuppa (or whatever), discussions & then go off & do Street Photography.
