Photo Walk Description

My plan is to scout the area this weekend and provide more information about the meeting places and route next week. I’ve heard this area is really beautiful, so I think it will provide a great opportunity for some outstanding shots. I’ve set the Walk time for later in the day so we will have a chance at some sunset shots if desired. STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFO!

PLEASE NOTE: There is a toll to get to the island: $8.00 per vehicle with 2-8 people; $4.00 Single Occupant Vehicle; $2.00 for Pedestrians, bicyclists.

  • AFTER THE WALK

AFTER the walk, we will be gathering at a restaurant called Island Outpost (466 Causeway Blvd, Dunedin, FL 34698). It is located just before you cross the causeway onto the Island on the north side of the road. You should see it on your way in. They have a big hammerhead shark (fake ofc) hanging outside. Here we can chimp photos and I will have more info about sharing your photos from the walk and submitting your favorite for the contest.

If you want to know more about the restaurant, you can visit this link:
    http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/30/342636/restaurant/Tampa-Bay/Island-Outpost-Dunedin

They have a good variety on their menu, at reasonable prices, and plentiful deck seating. I will have seats reserved for our group.

  • WHERE TO MEET

We are meeting at the beginning of the Osprey Trail. You can follow the signs to the picnic area, and that is where you can park. The trail entrance is within sight of the picnic area parking lots just to the northeast.

  • THE ROUTE

The north side of Osprey Trail is fairly even with opportunities to photograph a lot of foliage and birdlife, including nesting osprey, as well as insects. I’m hoping that being there later in the day will be a little cooler and give us some great lighting. Because the south side of the trail is quite a bit more strenuous and buggy, I am recommending that we follow the trail almost to the northernmost end and then backtrack to the entrance. Overall, up and back will be about 1.5 miles.

I recommend bringing plenty of mosquito repellant, as it quite lush on the trail. We used Skin So Soft when we scouted and it seemed to work well. Also, I suggest bringing some water since it might still be pretty warm. Other than that, camera and a sense of adventure should do it!

Yes, the walk is still happening. I am trying to post the info and the site is giving me problems, so I will put it here too.
