Photo Walk Description

Hi everyone. We’ve got the route set and think you’re going to enjoy it. Lots of great photo opportunities are all around the Great Dubuque River Walk. From the historic Civil War Shot Tower to the Ice Harbor we’ll see lots of things to shoot. We are also considering a Lightroom 3 and Photoshop demonstration if enough interest. Please arrive at the restaurant about 9:45 am to get registered.

Remember the walk is free. We hope you will join us for lunch and sharing after the walk. Lunch will be from the regular Tony Roma menu at your own expense. That’s it, no other charges apply. We look forward to seeing you there.

Regards,
Dave Updegraff

  • The Dubuque Photo Walk will be held at the Dubuque River Walk

    Update 08/27/2011

We will meet at the Tony Roma’s Restaurant by the River Walk and begin the walk at 10:00 am. The official address of Tony Roma is 305 Bell Street Dubuque, Iowa 52001. You can use the parking lot in front of the Restaurant and then come into the lobby for sign in. Please arrive by at least 9:45 am so we can get you signed in.

The walk itself will then head North to the famous Civil War Shot Tower, then back to the Star Brewery and proceed South along the Mississippi River. This route will offer us some wonderful scenery to photograph. Additionally there is usually water foul and other wild life around and a variety of art forms worthy of a picture. We will continue South to the Ice Harbor where there are various river craft to photograph and then travel West in front of the Welcome center and the River Museum.

We’ll circle around the Museum and walk past the William M. Black. This part of the walk also borders the Dubuque Rail Yard so there are usually some interesting things to capture there as well. We’ll come back to the River Walk and travel back North to Tony Roma’s Restaurant where you’re invited to join us for lunch. (Please note that lunch will be at your own expense.) If enough people stay I will give a Lightroom III and a Photoshop demonstration.

Sorry for the confusion on the web site it is locked down and I couldn’t get in to update the fields.

If you have questions please leave a comment below.

Dave I did the walk last year and had another email address (mitch51@mchsi.com) that I could not remember the user name. I tried to register under a new user but it will not take it (like last year). My new home email address is mitch13@q.com. How do I get registered for the walk?

        Pat

  2. Brenda Rolwes says:

    thanks!

    • Hi Brenda

Please forgive my tardiness in responding. I cannot sign you up unless you send me all of your personal information. All you have to do is click the Join This Walk Button and fill out the information. If you have difficulty contact me at upde@upde.net and I’ll assist you.

      Regards,
      Dave

I finally got signed up for the walk again this year. I finally used a different email address. Now I just have to remember to check the new one. I never use it. Unless there is a way that you can notify me with my regular email. I don’t want to miss any info about the walk.
    My regular email is waynmary@mchsi.com

Thanks for any help. Loved the walk last year and am looking forward to this one.

    • We’re looking forward to the walk as well. I’m hoping this will top last year’s walk but we had a pretty good time last year. Hope the fall colors are available for us.

      Regards,
      Dave

  5. Dana Andrews says:

Tried to sign up for the walk and it said the email address already had an account. Since I own the domain, I highly doubt that is true.
And do you really have a user ID of Dodgydaan in the system? (first error message was Dodgydaan already existed but I find that hard to believe)

    • Dana Andrews says:

It just gets better. Now I got two (2) emails that say Dodgydaan IS registered for the walk.

      • Hi Dana

Yes this is a tricky web site to get registered on. I have no control over it but have a direct link that I can report errors to Kelby. You are registered however. I just checked so you’re good to go.

Sorry to all who are having problems.

        Regards,
        Dave

  6. Bob Harron says:

    Dave,

I have tried three times to sign up for this walk. I did not particpate last year so I shouldn’t have any info already recorded. Am I missing something? Should the red box go away if everything is OK. I hit Join the Walk but nothing happens.

    Bob
