Photo Walk Description
We’ll meet at the New Africa Hotel. From there, we’ll proceed down to the Fish Market. We’ll cross the ferry and take pictures of the boat makers. We’ll cross back over the ferry, walk along the shoreline till where the Ferry’s for Zanzibar leave. We’ll swing through town, and be back at New Africa Hotel. We’re looking to provide a couple plain clothes policemen as well to add a measure of security. Should be fun!
My Name is Charles Porter, an American expat living here in Dar. I lead the Ocean, where I teach on Sunday mornings. I’m an avid photographer, (you can find me on flickr :charlesflickr and on 500px: lifecartographer) and do a lot of media teaching with young people here in Tanzania. I’m a dad of 3 small kids and I’ve been in Africa on and off for over 10 years.
Some tips: Wear good shoes. Don’t bring your purse or extra bags. We will work ahead of time to try and get permission to shoot these various areas, but be respectful. Also, be careful of shooting back towards the presidential palace. That would be trouble right away.
wouldn’t it be better to start earlier and get some of the good light and beat the traffic?
