Photo Walk Description
This walk will take place in historic downtown Perryville. The precursor to modern-day Perryville was Harbeson’s Station, a fort alongside the Chaplin River, settled during the final stages of the American Revolution. This fort, founded by James Harbeson and a group of settlers from Virginia, was strategically placed near a cave and spring. Prospering as a farming community for decades, shortly after the War of 1812 two men named Edward Bullock and William Hall organized plans to build a village along the river near the original fort. Bullock and Hall named the village Perryville in honor of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, hero of the Battle of Lake Erie. In the late 1830s, a line of buildings next to the Chaplin River formed the basis of the village of Perryville. Now called “Merchants’ Row,” these buildings still stand.
This year will mark my third year with the World Wide Photo Walk. This year The walk will have Co-Leaders Ken Pflug and Steve Hoffman. Ken has lead the past two years and is looking forward to another great photo walk.
Steve Hoffman here. Last year I moved to Danville and one of the first activities I participated in was the Danville World Wide Photo Walk. It was a great opportunity to learn about the area and meet some great people. I love taking photographs but am hardly a pro, so I value the opportunity to meet, learn from, and share with other photographers of varying levels.
I hope people sign up to join Ken and me on this year’s Photo Walk on Saturday October 1. Perryville is about 10 miles west of the Danville by-pass and the area should appeal to most photographers on so many different levels.
Don’t forget to also join the Boyle County Photowalk group page on Facebook. Either search by name or go to: http://www.facebook.com/groups/208702539149653/?ap=1.
Questions? Let us know. We are looking forward to shooting with you!

The photowalk was very fun. I participated the first year but unfortunately missed the second year. I really hope that this continues to be an annual event in Danville. Thanks Steve for helping Ken lead the walk and thank you Ken for leading the pack 3 years in a row.
