Photo Walk Description
This will be the second year I have led a Worldwide PhotoWalk and it was a blast last year. This year, we’ll be exploring the historic and very colorful Deep Ellum area. There is so much to see and photograph in the area… from outer walls covered in bright murals, to old historic buildings, to the DART train station and its great sculptures, to interesting people.
From our meeting place at Twisted Root, we will across the street to the Art Park underneath 75-Central Expressway. Then we’ll walk north from the art park to the Deep Ellum DART station, where there is some great artwork and sculptures.
After the DART station, we’ll walk south to Elm Street and turn left, continuing down Elm until we reach Hall Street, where we’ll take a right.
We’ll turn right on Main Street and work our way down towards 75. We’ll then take a left and go back to Commerce. The restaurant where we’re having lunch, Cane Rosso, is across the street from Twisted Root where we began the walk.
I will select one winning photo from the walk to submit for the Worldwide competition. The winning photo MUST be taken during the walk in order to qualify.
Please completely disregard the route map above. When I view it from a leader standpoint, it’s about 85% accurate. However, when I view it as a walker, it is completely wrong, and I’ve spent hours trying to fix it. I’ll provide printed maps when we get there in case anybody wants to take more time in certain areas than others.
There are various parking lots (none free that I’m aware of though) in the area, several on Main, Elm and Commerce so parking shouldn’t be a problem. I would recommend AGAINST taking DART at this time because it’s Texas-OU weekend and the waits for a green line may get a litlte (ok a LOT) long.
We will be walking for approximately two hours so be sure and wear comfortable shoes, and bring water and sunscreen. The weather may be rainy so take this into account when picking what you’re wearing and bringing.

See you soon!
