Photo Walk Description
After many months of leading photowalks around Copenhagen for the Ladies International Network Kobenhavn (LINK), I’m so excited to be leading my first Worldwide PhotoWalk!
As an ex-pat (from Canada) with a lifetime of travel and photography in 62 countries around the world, and as a professional photographer in recent years, I love seeking out unique, meaningful and beautiful images. Through leading photowalks this year, I have come to realize that I also love sharing this passion!
I am planning out our route for the October 1st walk, and will be tweaking it over the coming weeks based partly on the masses of ongoing construction around Copenhagen and partly based on further thought and suggestion. My current thoughts, however, will have us taking in the following:
- (starting at) the main train station, where the heart of Copenhagen’s sustainable transportation network beats evidently
- a bit of Tivoli (from the outside looking in); a fantastical place
- Radhuspladsen (and the Metro works!!)
- Christiansborg and Slotsholmen and some of Copenhagen’s lovely canals
- central pedestrian streets, and in particular, their heart at Hojbro Plads
- trendy Copenhagen around Gronnegade
- Kongens Nytorv
- Nyhavn, the inspiration for Hans Christian Andersen’s first fairytales
- Det Kongelige Teater on the cities defining waterfront
Join us for a coffee, slice of cake and a review of the afternoon at the Playhouse Cafe Ofelia in Det Konglige Teatret? (location confirmed! they are putting on extra cakes for us so please join in!!)
Please note the walk will be held in English. My Danish is unfortunately currently limited to Hej, Skal and Tak!
Also note that Bus 15 will take you back to the main train station from the walk end point in about ten minutes.
Tips for walkers – come with:
- empty memory cards or lots of rolls of film
- fully charged batteries
- as much of your camera kit that you feel like carrying!
- comfy walking shoes
- bottle of water and a snack?
- a raincoat? (this is Copenhagen after all!)
- I’m supposed to suggest sunscreen… but… this is Copenhagen after all! BUT!!! Newsflash: Summer has finally arrived! So throw in the shades, hat and sunblock too!
- imagination and an open mind!
Looking forward to meeting you… Can’t wait!

Hej Heather,
Great that we have two worldwide photo walks this year in Copenhagen! Hope you are having a good one
Thanks Thomas! You too! Feel free to pass on the info for my walk to anyone on your waiting list!
Heather
Will do that for sure. Just discovered that we have a similar route (at least parts of it), so maybe we meet on the way.
Keep in touch
Thomas
I think Georgia Smith’s photo is outstanding and artistic, expecially after looking at the world winners. Her’s should have at least received an Honorable Mention, if not a WINNER! Abstraction at its best!
Agreed! :O)
