Hi, I am Dhammika Heenpella, media resources representative for www.corbisimages.com. On behalf of Photo Lanka Flickr group (http://www.flickr.com/groups/photo-lanka/), I would glad to invite you for the World Wide Photo Walk 2011 which will take place for the very first time in Sri Lanka – on the 2nd October at the Independence Square, Colombo 07 at 7.00am.

STARTING POINT (at 7.00am): Independence Sq -> Independence Ave & Dr. C W W Kannangara junction -> Horton Pl roundabout -> Public Library roundabout (through Green Path) -> Red Cross junction -> Dharmapala Mw & Sir James Pieris Mw junction -> Seema Malakaya -> Braybrooke St -> Park St -> Vihara Maha Devi park (FINISHING POINT) and snack / lunch at URBAN KITCHEN (optional).
Approximate distance: 3 km
Approximate walking time: 3 hrs

Although the registration of the first batch of 50 walkers already completed, you still can join the walk as the second batch. Simply register in the “Contact Leader” link above (and don’t worry even if it says it is the “Waiting List”), we’ will do the needful from this end.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL PHOTO-WALKERS
- PARKING VEHICLES
There is ample parking space at our starting point (Independence Square) and also at the ending point, Vihara Maha Devi (VMD) Park main entrance.
Although the distance between two points is about 700 meters, I strongly advise you to use the VMD Park entrance to park your vehicles so that once everything is over you have quick access to the vehicles.
- SUNSCREEN & WATER
(Apart from your cameras, charged batteries and memory cards) make sure to bring some SUNSCREEN to protect from sunburn and WATER to keep yourself hydrated.

Although all the names in the WAITING LIST not shown immediately in the “View Attendee List”, I’ve been receiving many waiting list registrations immediately from WWPW servers.
All what I can say is PLEASE JOIN US in the walk (as the registrants who are in the waiting list BUT not as the registrants – the difference is that the registered members have some “perks” over the others

Behalf of the organizing team I wish to say thank you very much for all those who participated in the walk and extremely happy to meet a load of new friends who share the same passion – it’s been a wonderful experience
While thanking Scott Kelby of NAPP / National Association of Photoshop Professionals for organizing the world biggest photo event, also I would like to say THANK YOU to Photo Technica, the sole agent for Nikon in Sri Lanka for making this successful in many ways. My warm gratitude goes to Mr. Harsha Malvenna, Managing Director, Photo Technica and Ajantha, the Marketing Manager for coming forward readily to sponsor the event.
