Photo Walk Description

Hello everyone! Thanks for patiently waiting for the updates regarding this walk.

Here are some details…

- first: I changed the time of the walk to ensure that we captured the sunset. Sunset on Oct 1 is around 630pm.
- we will meet at the Agora Sculptures by Grant Park; for those of you who don’t know what that is, that’s the structure with the ‘feet’. (http://www.explorechicago.org/city/en/things_see_do/attractions/park_district/agora__in_grant_park.html)
- Address is: S. Michigan Ave. (100 E) & E. Roosevelt Dr. (1200 S.)
- after that, we will walk towards museum campus, passing by field and shedd and then go towards adler
- from there, we can take photos of the area, and then hang out by the side of the river to take some shots of the chicago skyline

Some other tips:
- Be ready for the cold weather; so dress appropriately
- Bring your tripods if you have one; That way, you can maximize the shots at night

Meeting place after the walk is Potbelly (sandwich place) at 48 E. Roosevelt Road, Chicago, IL.

See you!

So you might ask – what do we do with our images after the walk? Here’s what happens:

    – Once you login, you can then upload your best photo
    – Deadline for doing that will be Oct 7, 12 noon eastern time
    – Uploading here isn’t required for everyone, BUT if you do, you will get a chance to win prizes!
    – Prizes include: Scott Kelby’s new book Light It. Shoot It. Retouch It., a full Adobe CS5 Suite, Epson R3000 printer, Nik Software Suite, OnOne Software Suite, Westcott Lighting Kit, B&H Gift Card, iPad (32GB), NAPP Membership, Kelby Training Subscription, Full Library of Kelby Books, and Photoshop World Ticket!

    2. Share ‘more’ photos with everyone else
    – There are 2 flickr groups that you can join:
    a) http://www.flickr.com/groups/wwpw4/ –> the official group for this year’s walk
    b) http://www.flickr.com/groups/wwpw4-chi-museum/ –> our group’s walk
    – Of course, feel free to share your photos via facebook, google+ or your personal blog/sites. You can also point your users to our flickr groups so they can see the rest of the images.

For our walk’s Flickr group – it is a closed group so please email me your name when you ask for an invite so that I can verify that you joined the walk.

If you have questions, please feel free to let me know.

  • Last Minute Tips & Reminders

    Hello everyone!

See you all tomorrow. Don’t forget, meeting time is 415pm. I will be there around 4pm and will have a sign that says “Photowalk”. I will wait for everyone until about 430pm.

A few reminders for the walk:
    - Safety is a priority here. Please be aware of your surroundings when taking pictures.
    - Dress appropriately. Weather is mostly sunny but around 50s, so it will be cold. You can check the weather here: http://www.weather.com/weather/wxdetail/USIL0225?dayNum=1
    - Parking: There are some parking slots in South Michigan and South Wacker streets by Roosevelt. There’s also parking by the museums.
    - Bring water, sunblock, or anything that you might need during the walk.

    For your gear:
    - Please bring your cameras! :) Any type of camera is welcome.
    - Charge your batteries and make sure you have enough space for you memory cards.
    - Bring your tripod. If you have things that will make it heavy (so it won’t be blown away by the wind), feel free to bring them.

    See you all!

Will this walk be from Museum Campus or Burnham Park? The location says Museum Campus but the flag on the Google Map shows Burnham Park.

I have lived in the northern suburbs my entire life, but have rarely headed down to the lakefront to shoot. Looking forward to the walk, and to network with other photographers in the area.
