Photo Walk Description
Who I am:
I’m Kirsten and I’ll be leading this year’s Walk. I participated in the Walk last year and had a blast, so when I saw that no one had volunteered to lead this year’s Walk in Chengdu I signed up. I’m a freelance photographer, and co-organize an amateur photography group here in Chengdu.
The Walk:
We’ll meet at 14:30 at the Mao statue in Tianfu Square, walk west from there to People’s Park, up toward Wide Narrow Alleys, and then meander toward Dufu’s Cottage via Qing Yang Temple. This being a holiday we should see some of these areas packed with people, and if anything looks particularly interesting we can divert and/or spend more time. We’ll wrap up around 17:00 and then head over to The Lazy Pug for dinner/drinks/chat.
What to Wear:
Make sure you wear your walking shoes, and weather appropriate gear. We’ll still head out if it’s raining (though the route will change) so be ready with protective gear for your camera.
What to Bring:
- Any kind of camera (film, digital, point and shoot, etc.)
- Money for food and/or drinks at The Pug
If you have any questions leave a comment and I’ll answer them ASAP.

I am the first!
Hi Kristen – just spent what seemed like a whole photowalk’s worth of time trying to register with the site and sign up for your walk. Did it work? If not, I think I can make it – see you on the first!
Kirsten, beam me up! Have tried to register officially but website (or I) didn’t manage…
The Lazy Pug will be providing us with a special deal post-walk. More information to follow soon. Thanks Lazy Pug!
The Flickr Group for post your post walk photos is called:
2011 Scott Kelby World Wide Photo Walk in Chengdu
You can also find it by going to http://www.flickr.com/groups/worldwidephotowalk2011 .
Can I join as an Amateur/Hobbyist? Not professional photographer but I just came back to Chengdu from Japan (volunteering in Tsunami affected area). We will have fun to see the crowds on October 1st!
Congratulations Fien, nice balanced picture. That was my favorite of your flikr uploads too
